I think that this thing would make a PERFECT bong, I just cant figure out how I would do it.

Should I make one of those bowls that you pull out, or a carb somewhere in the neck?
How should I drill it while still making it look good?
What should I use as a bowl?

I need this to work well, and look good. All of my friends have made shitty bongs out of things like : A see-through cup that looks like an alien, the bong is sealed with shoe-goo and bubblegum, and a mouthwash can, the bong was sealed with scotch-tape and drywall putty.
I would really like to not waste this, as you dont come by a piece of glass like this very often.
I'm sick of smoking joints, and im sick of smoking with shitty bongs.
Please help me out here.

Considering teh volume of that bud vase, I don't think it will work very well.

Personally, I think a bowl at the end of the spiral that makes up the base of the vase (Use that rhyme, G!) would make it a damn cool pipe......

The tube is about 1/4 Inch wide and it is maybe 10 inches tall.

Maybe I could push the weed to the bottom with a tube and vaporize it? I dont know how vaporrizers work so.

Go to Home Depot and get a pencil torch, some 2 part epoxy and a hot glue gun. Then Go to your local head shot and buy the smallest glass slider tube and bowl that they carry.

Take the torch and hold it on the bulb part of the glass tube. You want the flame to be on the top part of the bulb, but not against the tube. Hold the flame so that the inner-cone just touches the glass. The glass should start to glow pretty quick, when it does, suck in on the top of the tube. The hot glass should bubble inward and busrt open, creating a hole. If the hole is too small for your slider stem, heat it with the torch and, when the glass softens, adjust the hole with a phillips screwdriver.

Now place the stem into the hole. Mix your epoxy. Pull the stem up so that it is about a centimeter from coming out, then coat the stem with a liberal amount of epoxy. Push the stem back down into the hole. put more epoxy on the stem once its pushed down and work the stem up and down and twisting it to get good coverage and seal between the hole and the stem. Hold the stem in place until it dries enough to stay put. Then let it dry completely according to the directions.

When its dry you can fill it with water and look for leaks. Seal any leaks with the hot glue. Make sure to empty the bong and dry the are before you hot glue it, or the glue will not stick.

To finish up, I would get some colored aquarium rocks for the twisty part of the bottom.

That last post was a really good idea, and if you havent already started that awesome deisgn, consider making the bowl at the bottom of the spiral, so the smoke bubbles have to travel around the spiral and pop in the large bulge, that would look pretty sweet.

It wouldn't work if I put the bowl at the bottom, the water pressure would force the water out.

When the epoxy dries, Will it be clear?
And, if the epoxy heats up while smoking then can it make me ...Sick?

The epoxy will dry clear with luttle bubbles in it. It shoud't get hot, but I'm not sure about getting sick. Come to think of it, if you get some soft rubber tube that your stem will fit into snuggly, you can work it between the stem and the hole and that should work too. With rubber tube, you may not need hot glue. Just use about a half to three quarters inch of tube.

This idea is a great way to completely waste your glass, and possibly hurt yourself. A few things: a butane torch, yet alone a micro torch, cannot properly melt glass. Even for soft glass (non-pyrex), one needs at least a MAPP gas torch. Supposing a butane torch actually could, you then have to evenly heat the glass to a uniform temperature, then let it cool SLOWLY, in a kiln, in order for the entire piece to cool at the same rate. Otherwise, it will shatter. In fact, it will shatter if you just apply heat to one single part while the rest remains cool. Also... if you WERE to get the glass hot enough.. then to suck IN.. you'd very much likely burn the fuck outta your lungs. This is why glass blowing tubes have backflow valves.. the superheated air inside the glass can create fatal situations. Also, simply heating the desired spot to the correct temperature point creates the hole, no air in the tube required. Blowing is only for expanding the glass, and some very special techniques that I can't remember offhand. Any other shaping is done using graphite tools. If you want this done, and don't have cash for a glass bit, I'd suggest the old aquarium modifier's glass cutting method: take a copper pipe, cut cotches in one end, fit the other end to a drill. Create a reservoir around the spot to be drilled, fill it with water and medium grit rock tumbler powder, then weight the lowering arm of your drill press by slowly filling a gallon water jug until it applies light, constant pressure. Takes about 5-15 minutes to cut medium thickness glass. On the other hand, you can also just put a rubber stopper in the top, with a downstem and a hose run through it, and make it a shoddy hookah. Oh.. and don't ever use epoxy to affix your downstem. If you can't find rubber grommets anywhere, 1. you're an idiot, they're about $2 for a 5 pack at any online headshop, and 2. use aquarium grade silicon caulk, available at any fucking hardware store, ever.

As aside note, it's amazing what some people will tell you just because they ASSUME it will work.
