You are not supposed to hold in the cigarette smoke, you drag, inhale, and let go.

With weed, you are supposed to hit it hard, and hold it in...then let it go.

I think that cigarettes are harsher because of all the chemicals put into them. I personally smoke cigarettes, but I DO smoke clove cigarettes....and if I hit one of those like it was a joint...heh...don't expect anything but coughing from me for the next 5 minutes, lol!

Maby nicotine is easier to absorb than THC, thus you don't need to hold it that long.

The rule of holding in weed smoke is pretty much just a myth. The first time I smoked I was told "Hold it in as long as you can, man" So I did. For a long time I held in the smoke as long as I could. Then I started holding it in for shorter periods of time, and what do you know, didn't affect how high I got. I read that all THC is taken out of the smoke after 6 or 8 seconds, not sure which one. So hold it in for a bit, but don't kill your lungs for no reason.

I didn't mean hold in the smoke untill you pass out...that would be very daft. Just a tad bit longer than you would a cigarette. Since you are trying to get all the THC..as with the cigarette, you're not really that focused on getthing the nicotine.

At least that's what I'm assuming, I've never been addicted to nicotine. (And clovies aren't addicting. )

cloves may not be addicting, but I've never seen a clove cigarette without tobacco mixed in. What kind of cloves do you smoke? I used to smoke cloves occasionally, it's been awhile though....I should really buy a pack again They are quite enjoyable. I have heard that cloves are worse for you than tobacco though, not sure if that is true. I've heard that they make your lungs bleed and that you aren't suppose to smoke a lot of them, just occasionally. tobacco is so cheap compared to weed that it doesn't really matter if you get everything out of every drag. You can always just light up another cig if your still craving. If I could buy a pack of 20 joints for 3 bucks I would smoke em just like a ciggie The way it should be

I have heard the same thing about cloves being worse than cigs, and I don't doubt it. I've smoked cloves only a few times, but each time my lungs felt noticeably strained afterwards. I would think holding in cigarrette smoke would be extremely harmful. The only time I've held in cigarrette smoke was when it was laced with pot resin, and even then, I could definitely feel the effects in my breathing.
As for your dad, perhaps he wasn't smoking it right; but then again, maybe weed's just not his thing, either. Maybe you should invite him to smoke a bowl with you (your treat) in the near future, and see what happens. If he still doesn't like it, then maybe you should just accept the fact he's not a weed guy. I know a couple of people who have gotten high and disliked it...strange, yes, but then I remember how much they love drinking, and how I despise it.

Seems weird that he left until two in the morning and had smoked two joints for him not to get high...

Also, if he has truely never smoked before, then you might not want to start him on a bong. A bong, to a stoner, is a loved instrument of pleasure. To the innocent bystander, it looks like a crack pipe. lol. It is just not an attractive method to use for starting someone up on their first time, unless of course the guy wants to.

You might want to try a stronger strain if you can get ahold of it. Or cooking it would be good.

Tell him that the coughing is just par for the course, it is one of the medicinal properties of marijuana, and that it is actually good for you because it aides the body in clearing out the polutants gathered in the lungs through the course of the day.

You sound very fortunate to have a father as understanding as you do. I hope you recognize how lucky you are, and appreciate it.

yeah I havn't been appreciating the option of smoking at home because I keep breaking the rule of not smoking it in the house. He is ok with it if I smoke in the backyard. But I got him pretty mad just last weekend..
I was smoking in the living room because I thought he was gone the entire night.. but he was only gone until 3:15 am..
that sucked...
I havn't got the ounce yet but I'm going to have it by Friday.. thats like $200 - $280 depending on quality..
I'll probably be getting around a $240 bag.. then I'll smoke a joint with my Dad next week if my mom and my brother and sister are not home yet..

Clovies ARE worse for your lungs than normal cigs. That's why I don't smoke them all the time...just one or two a day (cigarettes, not packs)...and sometimes I don't smoke for days at a time.

Considering they are $5 a pack here, it's a luxury. But then, a pack can last me two weeks.

Agreed, clovies DO have tobbaco in them..but for some reason the aren't addicting. (odd)

Sometimes I like to empty out a clove cig and fill the bottom two thirds with weed, and fill the rest with the cloves. It helps to conceal the odor of the weed...'cause the cloves are so strong.

A couple girls smoked some Cloves in my dorm room once or twice, reeked for about a week or so. Of course, my dorm room always reeked thanks to my not caring if people smoked cigs in there. And I'm sure us constantly baking it out probably had something to do with it as well.

haha, you need to get your dad to try a bong or vape! Some people just dont like how harsh joints are.
