| This is my first post here, I'd like to extend my greetings to all you other users. Lets see...I was wondering if it is safe to smoke out of a homemade bowl mad with an altoids can. What I did was cut our about a 1/3 inch whole on the top and put a screen in as a place to put the pot. Then I put a small air hole on the side, so that it was in the middle of the smallest surface (least surface area). its kind of hard to explain, but I think you get the point. It works great b/c I can put my lighter and weed inside until I need them. I'm just kind of afraid of what toxins & such may come through. I hope i haven't destroyed my brain or something.... | |

| Illuminary ![]() | That's a really cool idea, i'm gonna try that. Thanks. Never use the tinfoil from cigarette packs they give off black gross smoke. It's gross.

It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience, but the very existence of external reality, was tacitly denied by their philosophy. The heresy of heresies was common sense. And what was terrifying was not that they would kill you for thinking otherwise, but that they might be right. For, after all, how do we know that two and two make four? Or that the force of gravity works? Or that the past is unchangeable? If both the past and the external world exist only in the mind, and if the mind itself is controllable what then?" |

| New Member | Go to your local college and make friends with people who are art majors who blow glass. Once you smoke out of glass, metal bowls just taste nasty! You'll never go back! -ko |

| New Member | Yeah, there are a lot of chemicals in inks that are used to print on metal... (i work in the printing industry and this is taken right from the MSDS from one of the top ink manufacturers product) Solvent based screen printing inks that are used to print on metal include the following chemcials: lead sulfochromate, MANY petroleum distillates, barium sulfate, xylene dimethylbenzine, methyl ethyl ketoxime, aromatic hydrocarbon, crystalline silica... indigestion can cause gastrointestinal tract irritation, permanent brain and nervous system damage, crystalline silica is also carcinogenic... meaning that it can is listed as something that can give you cancer. there is lots of other stuff that is bad too that i'm not going to type. if you are really interested look for an ink manufacturers website and look under for an MSDS of an ink that is used to print on metal. i cant make this stuff up.... but i'm not supposed to link to commercial sites so i'm leaving the name out :-) if you are really interested in the chemicals in ink as me privately. altoids can= bad. glass is the way. -ko |

| I don't think smoking out of an Altiods can is a good idea, personally. IIRC, the inside of an altoids can has a film on it ... If you scratch at it with a knife you'll see what I mean. Not sure what the film is composed of , but, usually, film = bad. | |
