| It's harmful to your lungs to smoke out of PVC.

| Actually, no it's NOT a good way to do it. Even if the screen takes the brunt of the heat, the PVC is still heated to a point where it may release harmful chemicals. I for one would not smoke out of this pipe for that reason alone. There are literally hundreds of ways to make SAFE homemade pipes with household materials. Cheap Cheaptalk's methods of use forums for ways to make a SAFE pipe, rather than one that allows harmful chemiclas.vapors to enter one's lungs.

| u guys sure about that??? i have a couple friends that said there's no way it would even get that hot.... w/e, its nice and inconspiuous, i really dont think its bad for you cause it doesnt seem harsh at all whereas aluminum which is in fact bad for u seems very harsh!, and if thta was true it wouldnt be used for piping which transports HOT water cause it would be releasing toxic chemicals into our water, that kinda seems to be a no brainer. PVC is designed not to do what u guys are saying, its designed to transpoirt drinking water and endure ANY temperature. i know this is true with regular plastic, but pvc is very specially treated and produced compareed to regular plastic, i really find that hard to believe, i'm not trying to be rude, but i really think u got u facts wrong... what ur saying just does not seem to go along with common sense. seriously try it, almost as smooth as a glass piece. ![]() |

| naw I'll just stick with my inside out glass. i dont know the actual science behind PVC but what you said makes sense, but unless someone can provide some linkage as proof its word against word.

Yes, I'm positive its VERY BAD for your health. Your friends are wrong. There's a different between water a smoke passing through pvc. Don't be skeptical, just trust me. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) reacts by releasing a toxic carcinogenic gas when heat and smoke passes through it. It is proven to cause arthritis and a rare form of cancer, angiosarcoma of the liver and lungs. Don't mean to sound scientific but stay away from pvc. If I were you I would trash it! Well I wouldn't have even thought of smoking out of that crap anyway. Smoke up outta anything safer than that because its actually one of the worst things to use for a pipe. | |

| I made a bong out of 6 foot long plastic x-mas tree shafting, a bike pump hose(i'm not tall enough to hit it hardcore), a 2 liter soda bottle, a highlighter, a socket, and a screen...and a whole lotta duct tape. It worked and no harmful chemicalls. It did suck when the smoke in the HUGE chamber got stale b/c i couldnot possibly clear the beast. The socket could fit 2 grams in it and would be empty after the 4th light! All it takes is a little bit of time and effort to make a safe peice. I wont trust plastic or aluminum bowls. Just make sure if you make what i did that you clean everything really good. Since i started buying glass(its addicting) i wont ever make bowls again unless the unthinkable happens and i'm left crying and pleading for my artwork. |

| Dude, its your body and all, so you can smoke out of whatever trips your trigger. However, I consider my body important enough that I refuse to smoke out of materials like PVC and aluminum. While the dangers may or may not be as serious as some make them out to be, I don't feel like I should be the guniea pig. Even rumors of toxic fumes are enough to make me sterr clear, especially when there are so many other options available. Why take a risk if it can be avoided so easily? I understand you are proud of your new pipe and everything, but is it really even worth the POSSIBILITY that it may be "leaking" toxins into the smoke? It may be worth it to you, but count me out |
