I had a nice glass pipe untill a few weeks ago it broke...

Since then I've been using home made pipes, and papers/blunts when I can get my hands on them, which is hard since I'm under 18....

I also don't want to mail a pipe to my house, since I live with my parents and thers a SLIM chansethey'll open the mail...

So the other night I got the most brilliant idea.... I can build my own pipe....

I was thinking i can get a block of wood maybe 4 or 5 inches long and 2 or 3 inches hich, carve a bowl in one end, and use a drill to make the hole from the bowl down, and from the bowl to the mouthpice....

I have this part planned out pretty well and my only real concerns are,
What kind of wood should I use?
If I use pressure treated wood it will give off fumes which is probably bad?

also how do I get any wood to not burn when I'm smoking the weed (or is this just inevitable?)

Anyone do this before?

ive actually done this before and as long as you dont keep the lighter there for a minute it doesn light. But when i did it i didnt clear all the saw dust out so it kinda sucked, soo make sure to clean it good

It'll probably burn a little, but I don't think it would catch on fire or burn up to the point where the bowl wouldn't be useable again. All of the wood pipes I've ever used have just blackened near the bowl. You're burning the weed, so I wouldn't worry about the wood burning so much.

If you're not up to the challenge of making a wood bowl, you could always make a bowl or bong out of some supplies you can find in your house. Just today I made a nice little bong out of a 1/2 gallon milk container.

i'm doing this exact same thing dude.
1.don't use pressure treated wood..i don't want u to die.
2. if u don't want the the wood to burn use a finishing...problably laminate is best. thats what the professionals use.
3 if it turns out good let me know

The first time I smoked I didnt have a pipe and neither did my friend. This problem is very, VERY easy to solve: just make a pipe out of an apple!

Carve out the top to make a bowl and use a straw or something to make a hole into the bowl. This is an easy way to make a one time use pipe out of everyday object.

good luck with that..... cant ya have someone get ya a bowl from a headshop or party store...if not boom lame dude - you always got foil and a toilet paper tube right? Thats wrong ( I know) just kiddin!

I did the same thing abotu a Year ago, and i smoked out of "Woody" everyday for about 7 months, when my friend left it in the woods somewhere.

Here is what i did.

cut a branch off of a random tree, dont know what kind of wood
Let it dry
Carve the general shape out of say a glass spoon
Hollow a bowl into it with swiss army knife
Drill The airway thingy connecting mouth piece with bowl
sand it down
burn out all the left over saw dust
Pack it
Smoke it
Feel liek you acomplished something

It is a very fullfilling thing to smoke out of a piece you carved. It tastes wierd but its a great piece for any collection

please dont do this. laminant is affixed with an epoxy which WILL let off carcinogens when burnt / heated extremely.

My buddy used to make his own pipes and i seem to recall him saying that he would soak the wood, then torch the bowl area about 3-4 times before he ever smoked out of it. He said it really hardened up the wood in the bowl and it never caught on fire.
