Hey everyone,

My friends bust out some home made bongs from time to time when someone forgets their piece or something breaks etc..

We usually seal the stem with duct tape, we had enough for this once but ran out for later, this may be a stupid question but would scotch tape work just as well or is it hazordous or anything?

Scotch tape is a lot more likly to burn or melt, and give off dangerouse fumes. I suggest electrical tape, its a bit more resistant to heat. But even so, its better to use something that wont melt or is made of plastic for that matter.

I don't believe melting is a an issue because the tape would be about 2 or 3 inches from the flame, maybe even more

I think that you should make an attempt to come up with a bong design that doesn't involve tape at all, it shouldn't be too hard.

SUPPLIES:

plastic bottle (like one of those nestle spring water bottles)
socket
pen shaft or straw
drill

Drill a hole in the cap but make sure the drill bit you use will allow for a hole that will be a nice fit for the socket. Push socket into hole. Screw cap on. Drill a hole at the bottom of the bottle and put the pen shaft in the hole. Put weed in socket, light, and suck threw the pen.

Try to avoid the following when making homemade bongs:

plastic, glue, tape, tin foil, etc. Sometimes even wood can be bad because you can choke on wood smoke.

Ahh, I see. ^^ Then you can use anything you want... I sealed my home-made bong with a gluegun, since it was about 3 or 4 inches down, I knew it woulden't melt..

Thanks, I figured it wouldn't be a huge deal, when people have the right things we can make a perfect size hole, but there is an occasional time were it isn't as air tight as I would like
