first off i decided to start this thread because some of the other bong design threads are alittle vauge and go way off subject. also its to commemorate the loss of my first functional homemade smoking device which was lost after a thourogh raid of my bed room.

almost all of these materials can be found at either a local outdoors store your bathroom or a hardware store.

materials
1 mini nalgene bottle- nalgene botle used because of durability and its rigid heat resistent plastic

camleback tubing- used because it has a much larger bore than most aquarium tubing

1 socket wrench- size may vary depending on how large you want the bowl to be i would tell you what size i used but i forgot

1 sink screen- you can generally find these by unscrewing the ring on the end of a faucet and lifting out the o-ring and plastic peice

1 plumbing grommet- find one that the tubing can snugly fit into but still creates a tight seal i used a grommet because even though its not a complete seal it will lock in when suction is applied so you can avoid the mess and time spent applying a sealent

1 saudering iron- use will be explained in the instructions

first i took the saudering iron to melt a carb into the side of the bottle about 3 fourths of the way up, the size of the hole can vary depending on what you think is nescery. then i melted a second hole very carefuly into the other side of the bottle alittle lower than the carb. it is very important that you start small and gradually increase the size of the hole untill it is big enough for the grommet to be inserted. if you make the hole to large you are screwed so as you make the hole larger periodically check to see if the grommet will fit. then you insert the tubing into the bottle throught the grommet till it touches the bottom of the bottle. if you have the right size grommet it should be slightly difficult to push the tubing through. then you cut the tubing to reasonable length. after the tubing is cut fit the socket onto the end, if it is to large then wrap some scotch tape around the end of the tube till it fits snugly. i recommend a socket with an elongated end so the tubing wont touch the flame. the next step involves the sink screen. first you should burn the screens to remove any gunk or coatings so you dont kill your lungs. i managed to do this with a gas burning stove. just heat the screen till it turns red and all the sink gunk is burnt off. then if you need to, cut the screen carefully so that it can slip down to the bottom of the socket but still fit tightly.

if done right you can make a bong that hits very well and will last much longer than anything made out of a plastic drink bottle. also it wont look like a piece of shit ghettoh rigged contraption. its something you can be proud of.

keep in mind this was my first attempt and alot of improvements could be made to the design.

one of the major flaws was the tubing isnt connected to the bottle so you have to hold the lighter in one hand and you have to hold the bowl up and hold the carb at the same time with the other one. another thing was that sometimes alittle water splashes on your mouth because of the large size of the hole at the top. i would definitely recomend you design a moth peice or rig up a tube at the top.

if you think the grommet may leak alittle to much suction then you can easily seal it by pouring wax around the edges.

please post any thoughts on the design and if you do make one please post how well you thought it worked and if you did anything differently so i can perfect the design

Hey. Sounds good, I already have some Bs so I dont really have to worry but, put the carb the lowest you possibley can. Oh yeah I was thinking about actually making some Bs again but instead of metal, Im going to buy some stems and slides from a headshop that are glass. Glass kicks ass.
