haha regular clay, i.e. white or red clay, definitely fires waaay above 300 degrees, that's why they have to have kilnsss

Edit: But yeah, you are right, whoever "baked" the clay under a lamp, it did nothing but dry out, and if it's not regular clay, then, i don't know what to tell you.

I've seen a few pictures of some pipes made out of modeling clay or sculpy, but i'm still a bit skeptical as to if modeling polymer clay (if you dont know how this stuff works, its a sortof soft, brightly coloured clay that comes in a bunch of different colours, and you mold it to whatever you want to make and then bake it in the oven untill its hard) is safe to smoke from.

I'm assuming its not safe, so im thinking i might make the pipe and then put in a metal bowl at the end before it bakes, so the flame wouldnt have any contact with the polymer.

Any ideas if its ok to smoke from sculpey?

I wouldnt recomend sculpey for anything but a bong chamber. Sculpey clay is actually a plastic that hardens to the consistency of hard rubber when heated, so unless you would smoke out of a platic pipe with all its fumes I wouldnt smoke that shit.
