Hey All,

I just put the finishing touches on my new bong. To make it I used primarily the parts from CD spindles (the cover and the spindle itself), a tuba mouthpiece, a water bottle top, and lots and lots of hot glue. I haven't tried it yet, but it's nearly airtight, and it has a massive chamber. I'll post some pics after the instructions.

redeyejedi's Splong (Spindle Bong) Design

Caution - The use of some of these tools may result in injury, or chemical reaction. Be careful and have a first aid kit handy and a window open.

Materials Needed:

2x used CD/DVD spindles (tubes MUST be hollow) (sizes are up to you)
1x tuba mouthpiece (any other bowl size will require different approach)
1x small water bottle
1x hot glue gun and lots of glue
1x sharp knife/scissors
1x soldering iron (optional but faster)

Step 1. Take the smaller spindle cover and cut the top off of the protrusion, making a small protruding tube out the top.

Step 2. Cut the top off the smaller spindle base about halfway down if using a 50-cd spindle, making a smaller, hollow tube.

Step 3. Cut the longer spindle tube at the top, and at the base, leaving you with a long, hollow tube. Glue this tube to the bottom of the smaller spindle base, making a long tube through the base.

Step 4. Make small air holes in the small spindle base, allowing air to pass through (this makes a good ice/snow tray).

Step 5. Glue the larger spindle cover onto the bottom of the small spindle base, and make airtight.

Step 6. Cut the top off the water bottle, and cut a hole around the edge of the smaller cd spindle cover just big enough to fit it. Glue together. Note: Using hot glue you can "stack" the layers on top of one another, so you can fill in some larger gaps if you make a mistake.

Step 7. Cut a carb about an inch above where you want the water line to be in the lower cover.

Step 8. Insulate!!!

After that you should be done. Sorry if I missed anything, I made it over the course of a couple of days (missing materials), so if you have any questions/comments please go right ahead. I'll post back later tonight once I've hit it

Hehe thanks, that's the highest praise I've gotten in a while. Yeah I'm hoping the ice/snow tray makes it hit smoothly, cause that's like my entire lung capacity right there

Loaded up with ice and snow, check out the pic. Took a few left-over pipe hits w/ my girlfriend, then took the screen and put it in the bong. Loaded it up with about 2.5 grams, pulled in a huge hit - it turned completely opaque, and sucked it in, no problem. The ice + snow cooled it like crazy, I was able to take in my entire lung capacity. Then I lost the screen somehow... but that's another story. I've had this response open for a while, I hope someone has posted... I'm bored...

I think my friend might have gotten a pic with her digital camera, I'll talk to her later tonight. The bong's maiden voyage was great, everyone loved it, and you could really notice a difference when the snow started to melt, it was much harsher. For this bong, though, you need a killer lung capacity, because my gf and her other friend weren't able to pump it, so I had to fill the chamber for them. We got super baked though

i cant see the pictures and i had a question: What is a CD/DVD spindle??? it sounds like a interesting design but i have no idea what a CD spindle is.
its probably somthing i see everyday, im just to stupid to realize it, lol
