Lately I find myself compusively making new bowls and pipes, and I have several ideas for bongs and bubblers. The problem with most of the pipes is, the bowls have no screens. I tried smoking with a screen made out of a piece of aluminum foil with holes poked in, it tasted bad and made my head hurt. I cut part of the window screen off, but lit it first to see if it had any chemicals on it, and black smoke came up. I decided to avoid using that screen.

What are some good screens I can find around the house?

Well if a screen is necesary then tin foil is an option, but look under the faucet in a bathroom (where the water comes out) there is a screen there, but i cant get it out. (but i know people have used those before.)

i wouldn't use the screen from your faucet cause of calcium and lime deposits but if u go to home depot you can probaly find faucet screens there. Be sure to put up pics

I wouldnt use them either. but i know that they are there and avalible. I would rather just go out an buy screens from home depot, or jsut buy them off the internet.

rocks make decent screens in a way. Get a little pebble and put it over the hole so it covering most of the hole but not the whole thing.

Its definitly worked for me with shake.

I don't know if it's different in the US but in Canada you can buy screens at a corner store for like $1 for 5 screens. I've used screens from sinks many times. If your going to do that boil the screen or burn it with a lighter a lot to kill as much of the bacteria as you can. Also, if your using tin foil try having the lighter higher up off the bowl so the the flame hits the weed more then the tin foil. Then after the tin foil gets resiny it doesn't taste as bad.

I make bowls out of aluminum foil all the time and never get a bad taste. I like to fold the foil over on itself several times so it makes a thick layer. Poke some holes in that and I'm betting it'll be too thick to burn. Maybe your foil had something funky on it?

If you're only worried about the ash pulling through, you could always just wrap the mouth of the pipe with a tissue and smoke through that. It'll even filter out some of the nasty tar for you.

Use the mouth piece of a tuba/trumpet for a bowl. Just make sure its not brass. Then unscrew a faucet and get a screen out of there.

yeah dude to get the screens out of the fawcett just stick pliers up there and grab. if you try hard enough it will work.
