try leaving the excess paper flap on next time. as there is no direct airflow through the outer flap, it will stay there as the joint burns. that's the main point of inverted rolling. you have a nice little handle to hang on to so you don't have to worry about pinching the joint shut or your fingers stinking.

Eh - that may be one reason but I doubt it's the main reason.

I think it's more likely so that you do not have several layers of paper wrapped around your precious maryjane. Even the best paper produce a smoke that get's inhaled along with the weed so why not inhale as little paper as possible.

I do think that using the paper as a handle is a cool idea though

Tight , I just tried it out and blazing it now (sorry no digital camera). It took me a min. and a second attempt to get it right, but yeah that's the heat. I don't really notice a difference in the consistancy of the burn but the hits definitaly feel less harsher.

p.s. I'm really baked at the moment

I've never heard of using it as a handle, sounds kind of weird to me- but I guess it would work. Personally I would feel kind of fruity, like I'm holding a little purse. hahaha

The main using for using inverted rolling (as rick already stated) is to allow minimal smoking of rolling paper, it definetley provides an easier toke.

I'm only a semi-decent joint roller (love 'em but I usually just hit glass) so I'm not even going to be trying that

I don't see how it would improve the smoke though, isn't it basically the same thing except it looks different as it is being rolled?
