Due to getting cought recently, I cant carry a pipe. Even a chillum has me freaked out. But a screw on bowl is perfect. I can make a watterfall, a pisser, or anything else I want when im outside of the house. ANd I never smoke at home, so its perfect for me.

Now, Im sort of a nerd with some things. Smoking is one of those things. I enjoy smoking out of all sorts of things. I love the high, but a part of me doenst even care about the high, I just like smoking new, and better things. This is my attempts at making waterfalls and gravity bongs a bit better.

So, Since ill be smoking out of bottles and whatnot for the next few months, I decided to figure out what the PERFECT vessel to smoke out of would be. As in, I want to find a bottle that has the PERFECT volume for smoking. Just enough to fill my lungs. The bottle needs to draw in enough smoke to fill my lungs, but not so much that there is left over smoke.

So I decided to figure out my hit capacity

Not my lung capacity, but my HIT capacity. Big difference.

How did I measure my hit capacity?

What I needed: A couple of water jugs or anything else that works. I used a 1 gallon milk jug, and a BIG wide mouthed tupperware from my moms kitchen. The bigger the container, the better, it can get messy if its small.

1) I took the empty milk jug, poked a large hole in the bottom of it (but small enough to plug with my thumb)

2) Then, I filled the milk jug full of water (while plugin the bottom hole of course.

3) Then, while holding the milk jug over the empty tupperware, I took in the same amount of air as I would when I take a bong hit, put my mouth over the top of the milk jug, and BLEW the water out. When I was somewhat close to being out of air, I took the jug away from the container. Dont keep blowing untill you are completely out of air because you never use 100% of your lung capacity when you smoke. At least I dont.

4) Now I measured the amount of water in the tupperware using a measuring cup.

5) Boom!! You have your rough hit capacity!!!







Of course, some of you might not be into going through all that trouble, so ill provide you with my findings so you can make your own assumption about your hit capacity.


I am a very thin, young male. 6 feet tall, and in pretty damn good physical condition.

My hit capacity is roughly:
2050ml
8.66 cups
.54 gallons
2.1 liters
69.3 ounces
4.33 pints (US)
2.16 quarts (US)


So now im off to the gas station to find a plastic drink contaner that gets as close as possible to my hit capacity

Well sure, ill post pics for the hell of it sometime. Im dry right now (which would also partly explain my bordom and why I did this whole hit capacity thing haha!) but when I do make a gravity bong or something like that, ill snap a few.

Just curious, but why is a bowl safer than a pipe?

-Its absolutly tiny so the storage options are greatly increased compared to a pipe. I can hide it absolutly anywhere.

-I can just wipe it clean with a tissue or something. With a pipe I had to wait till my parents were asleep so I could spend 15 minutes scrubing it down with alcohol and q-tips.

-Since its so easy to clean, I can clean it after every use eliminating ALL smells

-If it was found, I dont even know if my parents would recognize it as paraphernalia... It doesnt look like much.
