I have a bowl made that hits really good actually that i made out of a tip of a HUGE pen...and a socket. Everytime i hear someone say socket they have a "screen"...I was wondering what the screen is for because the socket i am using holds the weed in perfectly and you dont get shit on at all.

A screen is used for blocking your pot from going threw your chamber/pie into your mouth so your not choking on pot.

Many people use aerator screens for faucets as screens.
You can also pick 'em up at headshops for about a nickel apiece.
Cutting a small piece of window screen works, too.

yea, you only need one if the hole is too big and weed falls through while you smoke. asl long as the hole is small enough then just enjoy

I would be careful when using most window screens b/c they melt and burn.

Yeah. I should have specified METAL screes. The newer, lightweight nylon ones will melt. Good point.
