| okay everyone, before I get flamed for starting yet another joint thread, lemme say: this post is centered on my learning experience, not just being another twink posting without searching. I think I have some useful advice for anyone who wants to learn to roll, and it hasn't been stated before. so here we go. half an hour ago, I couldn't roll for beans. Now I can roll a decent joint. here's what I did: I have this green tea, right? vaguely resembles the herb we all know and love in texture. I sat down with a book in my lap and some paper on top of that to catch excess, my papers, the tea, and some time to kill. after about 5-7 tries I started getting better at it. I made a roach out of some card, too; that seems to help a lot. Also, I discovered that when you actually roll the joint after tucking, it doesn't have to roll up even with the gummed edge. Also, the most important part of the actual rolling bit, I discovered, is the tuck. I'm not so sure this part can be taught... it's a feel kind of thing. Just practicing it helps tremendously though. so to recap: practice with tea, shredded up grass, oregano, whatever. use a roach, it helps me a lot. don't worry about eveness or symmetry. concentrate on the tuck. pack the joint toward the roach and twist off extra paper. above all, practice. Even the best instructions are second to first hand experience. |

| I had the opportunity to be taught by 2 old timers and they taught me well. I used to joke about how "textbook" they always looked and thought it would take years of practice, but to my amazment some practice with some tabbacco and i was on my way. The one tip i can give that helped me was dont put in the reefer and try to roll it right up, go back and forth and get that packed cylinder going on THEN tuck and roll. Another suggestion is invest in a good pair of sissors, they are your friend. I have seen so many people try to break it up by hand and roll, getting nothing but a big hole in the joint from a wild stem. Alot of people dont like joints and i believe that may be because they cant roll. Its all about the craftmanship of your work. The more you practice and get better the more you will pride yourself on your joint rolling. If you feel like getting fancy try This download of the joint rollers handbook. ![]()

| I haven't smoked a joint, or rolled one, in probably 3 years. It is more of a practice thing than anything else. Although I have seen some people roll a very nice J their very first time! This thread has inspired me to roll a few J's tonight! ![]()

| Awesome! Nice to see some good karma. Although I disagree with your choice of practice mixture, novagoat , practice in some form or another does really seem to be the only way. Joints are superior, and therefore worth learning to make, I think, because they look less conspicuous in many situations, and if you need to get rid of it quickly, you can always eat it and leave no evidence.I agree that rolling it back and forth helps make the mix more cyndrilical (...) and easier to tuck; good point! I also like to hold the joint between my thumb and forefinger and smooth the joint out along it's length as the guy in this video does. any more tips? Everyone throw in their techniques/suggestions! Previously un-posted information a plus! ![]() |

| i learned to roll the perfect joint when i tried a new thing to quit smoking another off topic substance...i quit buying packs and started buying it in a can with rolling papers, thinking that if i had to stop and roll one i wouldn't smoke as much...wasn't long before i could roll with the best of them doing that...it's different texture than weed though..but it taught me the basics of rolling.. oh, and i can roll a fatty with tops 1.0's haha i can't stand rolling with a 1.5 now...i gotta rip off alot of paper |
