Alot of people are familiar with the toilet paper tube and dryer sheets, but i think that it doesn't cover the smell completely. Does anybody have ideas on how to cover up the smell almost completely without spray?

you cant stop the smell completly, but you can stop the smell from leaving the room you are entering in.

Put a towel under the door (and tape over the door if you are super-paranoid). Blow into a fan pointed out the window. Cover up the air vents. Use a doob tube. I use a water bottle cut in half instead of a paper towel roll. When you smoke, only light a corner of the bowl and put the cherry out while you are still inhaling with the end of the lighter and clear the carb so no smoke rises into the room.

If you do all of this, no one will smell it unless they actually open the door.


You could make a much larger doob tube too. Like cut the bottom off of a big ass gatorade bottle and fill it up with an entire package of dryer sheet.

im planning on taking a used chapstick container and filling it with activated carbon (like the stuff you put in fish tank filters) and somehow rigging it to be a mini doob tube (we call them spoofs where im from) that at a glance looks like a normal chapsick tube.

Well if you have a window I believe you'll be fine. I don't even use a doob tube, just make sure the air is blowing into your room and not out. No fan, window open, towel under door, blow it out the window and cover the bowl with a nickel or any coin with a good fit, cover the carb and mouthpiece. Never been caught.

To avoid leaking smell into your house your going to want to make sure your doors are relatively sealed. A quick and easy way to seal the bottom corner of your door is to simply hang a jacket on it. A towel folded up also makes a good blocker for the bottom.

Making sure your smoke is actually leaving your room is always good too. Sometimes it may look like your blowing your smoke out, but its really just being blown back into the window.

I would take a water/soda bottle like steakii suggested cut the bottom out a bit and literally stuffing it with fabric softener or something to that degree. You can always respray some sort of smelly stuff in there if your really desperate, but it's probably not advisable because of fumes.

Basically, the bigger the better and the more surface area of 'smell fabric' as well as room for the smoke to move around the more efficient your doob tube/spoof will be.

Also, a chapstick canister might be too small. The carbon filter is a good idea though.

Also something I have found that makes the room smell awesome and probably covers up the smell if there is any is wallflowers. It's this thing from Bath and Body works that my mom is crazy about. Basically you plug it into an outlett and it slowly diffuses some liquid scent into the air. Some of the scents are pretty good but some can be a little overpowering. I just plug it in when I start smoking at night then unplug it in the morning. I don't leave it in all the time cause it is a little strong but i feel it helps with the scent.

Whenever im smoking inside i light a candle(ive found that some yankee candles overpower almost all of the most powerful smoke smells) /turn a fan on/open a window....usually that works fine but when im feeling paranoid i will use a water bottle, burn a hole in the bottom about half inch big, stuff the thing with 5-10 dryer sheets. That baby works like a charm. You can even throw in deodorant or any other yummy smelling things.

The opposite approach works really well also. It's not feasible 100% of the time, but...I've always found that it works a lot better to smoke a bowl in multiple rooms of the house than in just one room. A nice even distribution....

It's like what Einstein said "It's all relative." If you smoke in every room, there will be no contrast between a "clean" room and a "hot" room....
