okay so my friend got arrested apperently for smoking weed on a church property and for stealing a guitar or something but he didnt do it and he knows who did, but apperently they set up a video camera catching me my friend j the one whos arrested and s my other friend smoking weed and now im freaking out really bad cause i dont want to get in trouble for something i didnt do (stealing) what do u guys think.. sorry about details im freaking out

im worried that im gonna get in trouble for smoking on there property and my friend got arrested what did he do different then me, that i missed that got him arrested and not me and s (whoa that seems like it makes sense) the only thing i know is j left his wallet at the church and thats the only thing im sure is different... details the church doesnt like us because that have like 3 acres of land and we get bored and built a treehouse a really really sick treehouse in there tree which got tore down because liability then we made a rope swing which is still there and really fun. we've been to youth group there well ive been there once but s and j have gone there countless times high as fuck and i thought that was stupid so i never did it and the people there acted nice to me but it could just be a front idk ill add more details as i think

as long as your friend doesnt rat u out, which i dont think he will do, i think you should be fine. if they identified you chances are they probably would of atempted to contact you already. sucks about your friend tho....

chances are the video will be shown to the kids parents and bam oh thats zac bla blah bla he lives over across the street from the church idk

if they have a video camera than chances are they either saw that you didnt steal it or saw who did steal it so you should be in the clear, but you are going to get hell from your parents

First, if they have a video of you smoking, that's all they have: a video of you smoking. No way anyone can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that it was marijuana as opposed to a legal substance such as tobacco or salvia (although some states are trying to make salvia illegal too).

Also, as they say, "possession is 9/10ths of the law." Even if the police believe you might have been smoking pot, if the video shows you smoked it and it's gone, the police have no reason to believe that you are in possession of any more. (Kind of like when the police searched my car and took away my bag of weed. At that point, they couldn't just get a warrant to search my house because they already took my weed and they have no legitimate reason to believe I'd have more lying around my house.) Of course, that is unless the video shows you rolling up a joint and then putting a large bag of weed into your pocket. Then the police might have reason to believe you could have brought it back to your house and they might be able to obtain a warrant based on that. But once again, you're then back to the issue of whether the video can reasonably demonstrate that it was marijuana as opposed to some other leafy, plantlike substance.

As far as the stolen guitar... You don't really give much detail on that. Is the guitar in the video? If so, who is holding onto it? Were you with your friend when he stole it? Is it an average guitar that anyone can buy anywhere or is it a one-of-a-kind collector's item that must have come from wherever it was allegedly stolen from? If it's a one-of-a-kind collector's item that's clearly visible in the video and you're holding it...that's gonna be tough. If it's a regular old guitar that a million different people could buy at Walmart, even if it is in the video, whose to say it really is the stolen guitar as opposed to one of the other 100,000 made that look exactly like it?

All in all, if this video is all they have, I really don't think it alone would be enough to get you into any real trouble. Although I think your history of messing around on the church property isn't going to help matters, so I would suggest not going over there anymore because it is private property and you now know that they have video surveillance.
