Default Anyone traveled Amtrak lately?

I took Amtrak once before to Chicago and had no problems.

I am thinking about taking Amtrak again this summer, but I have heard they are beefing up their security, although it was mainly focusing on the Eastern side of the US. Anyone taken any Western bound Amtrak trains recently? Like maybe LA? How was security? Same as always or ?

Thanks in advance.

Train Stations, like Airports, are not drag-nets for Marijuana. Security is not roaming the halls looking for pot-heads with drug dogs and sniffer machines. If you practice certain precautions you will never have an issue.

Never place your stash in luggage, checked or carry-on, Keeping it next to your private parts will maintain your stash private. Nothing to worry about - frankly I recently traveled on a California commuter train and you could have smoked a bowl at every stop just like the poor folks who have a nicotine additction.

I offer that passenger trains are the least likely target outside the Northeast Corridor; you can't exactly drive them into a building and a Chlorine or Propane tank car has much more potential energy. So the TSA efforts (what routine travelers call "Security Theater") are focused on the Northeast Corridor and really just a Dog and Pony Show.

Good travels.

Thanks for the info.

With the news of Amtrak expanding its security measures coast to coast, if anyone had any experiences good or bad, please post.
