| Wow...Think of all the taxpayers money that was wasted coming up with this technology. Makes me sick how much we waste in this pointless war on drugs. |

| Is it me, or does the writer in the picture look like a Nazi?

| In the future, everyone will be a nazi for fifteen minutes. There`s nothing new about residue testing. Drug Courts now have bracelets which turn colors which indicate exactly what substance the person consumed during dry out. If you really want something to blame for the new high tech detection and surveillance gadgets, blame the people who strap on explosive belts and blow themselves up in public places. Israel is currently the leader in inventing and marketing this stuff. They were forced into researhc and developement of such devices; now it has become a multi billion dollar industry in Israel. It should be taken for granted that such technology would expand into other areas like drug detection; much less expensive than dogs and handlers. |

| Well, first of all, if anyone actually read the article, you would see that no where in it was any mention made of using this to test normal, everyday people for drugs. The article only mentioned the possibility that athletes could be tested using this new method. Honestly, it's likely that this method of drug testing is too new, too unreliable and possibly too expensive to use all the time when investigating people for using drugs. The regular pee/hair/saliva tests will more than likely continue to be the standard. The article, instead, mentioned the possibility of analyzing fingerprints left at crime scenes. This would allow police to investigate after a tragedy to see what happened and figure out who might have caused it. If some crazy terrorist blows up a bus, this new test might allow police to figure out who on the bus did it by figuring out who left chemical-laden fingerprints all over the handrails or elsewhere. If you all actually read the damn article, you would have seen that no mention was ever made of this test replacing the standard drug screens currently in use today. So all of the posts made about "big brother" and "false positives" and "beating" the test were for nought. The government isn't going to fingerprint you and then test your prints for drugs - that's not even how the test works. Did you all see the part about testing the fingerprints "right where [they're] found"?? That was referring to the testing of fingerprints left at crime scenes. So, really, I wouldn't think anyone here would have much to worry about unless you're frequenting crime scenes and leaving your drug-stained fingerprints all over the place. Hate to say it, but I think you all just went into a panic for absolutely nothing. Go back and read the article. ![]()

| Its stuff like this that really annoy me about the government. Canada is not as bad about this sort of stuff, but if these pointless innovations keep up, soon well be reading the headline, " New Lower Density Apple Sauce Invented, Millions of Taxdollars Spent". | |

| Well I think that one would be fairly easy to beat given notice. Seems like would be more usefull for arresting someone then using as evidence that they had there hands on it, might be good for terrorist, but in my opinion what goes on in my own time is none of anyone elses buisness...............they gonna tell me getting head is illegal too one day bvecause some politicians wife wont do it, I want my free country. |

| I once read that a high percentage of 20 dollar bills contains trace amounts of cocaine and therefore would nullify any implications of a test like this. Screw these commie bastards. |

It's not just 20's... it's a large amount of all our currency. And the traces are minute... minute enough that I'm sure this technology would be able to tell the difference between actually handling cocaine and the residue of a bill. | |
