In Wisconsin, I know of someone who (even though only 20 years old) has gotten two DUIs. According to him, he has not been fined, sent to jail or had his license taken away for any amount of time. A few months ago, he got his third DUI and is now possibly looking at jail time. For what ever reason though, he has had THREE "pre-trials" so far (taking almost 2-3 months so far) and has yet been told what his punishment will be. It's this kind of sh*t that really blows my mind when looking at the laws involving drinking, and using MJ.

How have we gotten to the point where someone who endangers other people's lives (three times none the less!) gets less of a sentence than someone who enjoys a toke in the privacy of their own home?? In Wisconsin, the penalty for posession is a misdemenor, up to $1000 fine and 6 months in jail (for first offense) and $10,000 fine or 3.5 years in jail (for subsequent offenses).

What also bugs me is that the court system is taking their sweet ass time deciding his punishment! How hard is it for a judge to look at his record and say "$1000 fine", or "6 months in jail" or "2 year probation" or "no lisence for a year"? I hate to use this person as an example, because we are friends... but seriously, ANYONE who drives drunk should get some kind of punishment, no matter who they are!

And right now I'm watching "Hot Pursuit" on TruTV, and just now there was someone who was being chased by police because they were driving drunk for the 7th time (at the age of 21!). Why the hell is this person not in jail already?!

The whole justice system in this country makes no damn sence to me... Can anyone spread some light on how this could happen in our society today? I'm looking for a SERIOUS reason here... not "because our government is corrupt" or stuff like that. I really can't understand how we've gotten to this point... Thanks!
