Trespassing in FL. When do I pay my fine?

Man this was so over the top and unexpected. I was cutting through some fields with my buddy on the way back to his house when someone phoned in the cops (I know it was not the owner of the land) and in short, we got busted.

Anyways I dont have much first hand experience with the law and especially not in Florida. They didnt even tell me my court date, so im pretty lost. Does anyone have an estimate of what my fine will be, and when I will pay it? Also is it possible that I won't have to pay it the day I have court? Im low on cash and I am hoping they can extend it out or something...

I appreciate any help.

I am in Florida, but I don't know the penalties for this particular crime. Were you taken to jail, or just given a ticket? If you were given a ticket, there should be a phone number that you can call.

If they didnt give you a ticket on sight, you'll probably receive one in the mail. Or if you know the district/county that cited you, you can just call and ask.

I was taken to jail. I THINK they said they would send me a letter in the mail with my court date, but im not sure. Im more concerned on the fine and the date required to pay it by

Yeah, I had a bad feeling that you were taken to jail. What county are you in?

I don't really have any advice, but that sucks someone called the police on you. I don't mind if people walk across my yard/property to get where they are going, but if they are hanging out there, I might go and talk to them, rather than the cops. Best of luck, hopefully the fine isn't too bad.

and Vicki, I live in Palm Beach county but it was in Martin county (one county up)

I'm really sorry. I don't know anything about your county. I'd definitely give them a call.

Or try talking to the land owners. Its up to them to press charges, and maybe if you politely explain you were just walking across their property and apologize to them, they will descide to drop the charges. Its worth a shot.
