i was stoped for jay walking and they searched us and found a pipe on me and a pipe on my friend, they smelled it and said that it was recently used with marijuana so we told them that we smoked the night before, but the pipe didnt have any weed in it; but i was arrested in october of 08 for shop lifting at the mall and i was wondering wats going to happen? im really freaking out right now.

I'm 17 also and have had numerous charges against me :P I know court sucks lol...

Probably they're going to make you take a Urine Analysis (UA) and if you test positive for THC then they're more than likely going to sentence you to probation for 6 months or so if you have a good lawyer.


Buuuuut...I live in Iowa, so I could be wrong for your area >.>

From what I understand, legal age of majority is 18. Which makes you a minority (minor), that being said....... SMILE, in a year all this will be behind you, and you can start fresh (hopefully with some well obtained knowledge) with a clean record. With you being a minor, you will most likely be assigned probation for a small period of time, pay a fine, and be in trouble with your parents lol...

next time smoke in the car and leave the pipe there.

Yeah I'm kind of with you on that one. I don't see how jay walking = probable cause to search you unless you gave them some attitude

How could they charge you for a pipe if they don't know for sure you used it to smoke Marijuana? You could have used it to smoke Tobacco, they have no hard evidence.

there are other reasons than you having smoked last night that a pipe you have might smell like weed. when it comes to illegal stuff you've done, always just keep your mouth shut. always. no, really, always. and if you get arrested then wait until your lawyer advises you to say anything.
