| It's legal (though not really constitutional) for the border patrol to set up checkpoints anywhere within 100 miles of the US border. There are tons of checkpoints in southern part of the country. I'm thinking of taking a road trip to see a friend in Texas (I live in Tucson, Arizona), but that would mean hitting a minimum of one checkpoint, possibly more, along the way. I wanted to bring him some of the good pot that I can buy over here, but the main obstacle is that these checkpoints have dogs which are sometimes in use, and they scan all the cars and trucks as they pass by. Sometimes they're allowed to get right up next to vehicles and get a pretty good sniff. Does anyone have any ideas about the probability of there being a dog at a checkpoint, especially in regards to the large checkpoints on interstate-10 which are on either end of El Paso? Also, considering that the amount that I'd like to take is less than an ounce, is it possible to hide the scent from the dogs? The car itself isn't very large and it's pretty low to the ground. |
