| Hello All, I live in California and am in an RN program. During the routine background check, a posession charge of less than one ounce showed up from 2003. This is threatening my career as an RN. Back when I got the ticket, I did not pay the fine as I should have, which I believe is the reason it's still on my record. I finished paying off the ticket last month (which had skyrocketed to $970 by the way, lesson learned) but my county (Madera) is giving me grief about removing this from my record. I have researched this and found the following: "Under California Health and Safety Code Sections 11361.5 and 11361.7 all possession of marijuana for personal use convictions, after January 1, 1976, are erased from your record after two years." How can I go about getting this removed when this ticket doesn't qualify for an expungement? I'm on a time limit, as well. Thanks in advance for any help!!!!! |
