Cops find $48,000 worth of marijuana

Police are seeking two people in connection with $48,000 worth of marijuana recovered from a County Street self-storage faculty.

Daryus Pierce, 31, of 263 Morgan St., Fall River is in police custody, charged with possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute, possession of a Class D substance and conspiracy to violate the drug laws.

Police are seeking Duane Franklin Glass, 32, whose last known address is 263 Morgan St., but who is known to travel between New York City and Fall River. Glass is sought on charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police and speeding.

Police are also looking for Pierce’s girlfriend, Sarah E. Coelho, of 1230 Pine St., Dighton. Coelho is charged with possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute, possession of a Class D substance and conspiracy to violate the drug laws.

Glass fled Somerset Self Storage in an Audi A8 registered to Coelho after police responded to a Sunday morning silent alarm at the location and found Piece and Glass in the parking lot, police said. Neither one could explain their presence in the lot.

Police asked Pierce to open a storage unit to which he had keys. As Pierce was complying, Glass started the Audi and fled the scene, with police, including Police Chief Joseph C. Ferreira, in hot pursuit. Glass lost the police during the course of the chase.

Keeping Pierce in custody, police returned to the storage unit with a drug-sniffing dog that indicated the presence of illegal drugs in storage unit E151. Officers obtained a search warrant for the unit and discovered 15 one-pound bags of marijuana. Two cell phones and $224 in cash was seized from Pierce.

Ferreira praised the cooperation of the owners of Somerset Self Storage and said he would ask the Legislature to allow police inspection of registers, as do hotels, and allow periodic inspections by drug-sniffing dogs.

I have heard of pounds of kb going for up to 5 or 6 thousand. It really all depends on your connection, how close they are to the grower, and how good of a deal they are willing to give ie. if they know you can get it cheaper, they will give you a better deal.

i mean, the value depends on a lot of things...

One pound is generally sold for about 2 grand (for a very expensive bag)...there are 15 bags there and none of them look like a full pound. Even if they were that's only 30 grand tops. I'm with smokedank on this one.

Ok, @ "street value", if this is indeed dank, 48 k isn't that far off. 48K would mean 15 lbs@ 3200 a lb.

There are 16 ozs per lb, meaning each oz would have to retail for just $200 bucks on the street for this to be valued at $48,000, which is completely within the realm of reason. Street value is what the drugs would RETAIL for on the streets, not what a wholesale distributor would expect to make on a single bulk sale of 15 lbs. If it were dank, or even mids, a price of $200 per oz isn't unreasonable in the least, making their claim true enough.

^^^True but ultimately they can tinker with that number to make it sound like as much as they want because most ppl dont know the street value as you do and most ppl are gonna believe a "law enforcement expert" at face value.
