I received a citation a few months back for having a pipe in my car, and I have heard of people getting their drivers license suspended for possessing marijuana. Can they do the same for a pipe? I live in Texas btw.

Yeah probably. When I was caught with paraphernalia they put me on probation for 3 months. If I failed any of the drug tests I would get my license suspended for 90 days. Good thing I never failed But idk you should look up your state laws to see what exactly are the punishments. I would leave the pipes at home man cause you could get pulled over at any time. Weed is easier to hide than a pipe so thats all I ever have on me. Just be careful and dont drive high and you'll probably never get pulled over if you obey the speed limits at least. I hope I kinda answered your question man.

Damn that is harsh for a piece.

So here is my full case explained( I didn't want to post the full story earlier)

Back in June I was doing 100 on a 60 mph highway and had a pipe in the backseat. When I was pulled over he claimed I took too long to stop and that he had probable cause to search. He found the pipe and gave me a citation for speeding and drug paraphernalia. Two days later my dad and I got an attorney and now my court case is scheduled for Nov.20th and I do not have to appear in court.

My question is, Does appearance in court mean anything significant?
They said I would receive the outcome of the case by mail.

paraphernalia is only illegal if it has been used. If it is brand new. it is alright. just keep that in mind when buy a piece/bong etc.

That's wrong, and the source of endless confusion around here - because your are making a blanket statement, which is a common folly of youth around here.

Federal Law, and many States, further a number of local jurisdictions have definitions of paraphernalia that make it illegal regardless of it's condition.

Other conditions may be present to make it illegal - such as MJ, even in the slightest amount, render your blanket statement false. Having symbolic design of it's purpose is also an element (like pot leafs on your bong). And there is the legal concept of Mens Rea (guilty mind) that is considered.

Now before you go all out with another folly of youth and try to explain to me (or pose the argument) that if the Head Shops can sell it and you just say you smoke tobacco with it, it's legal - do some actual research on the case law related.
