Hey all, as most of you can see this is my first post .

Little Background:

Im 19 Years old from Canada Ontario

Recently I got busted with some weed on me, about 8 g's.

when I got arrested the officer asked me if I had a previous record and if I was on probation.

I told him I did have a record for causing threats, and weapons dangerous and that I was on probation.

The probation consisted of: Not to have weapons on me & to stay about 100 meters away from a certin area.

He brought me back the office, took my picture, finger prints etc..

He also said that I breached my probation. What I'm thinking is how would I breach my probation because I never had Drug charge or anything to do with drugs on my record or part of my probation.

My friends said that everytime a probation is set there is a law that sais to Keep the peace, or something like that.

Now they are making me go to court 2 hours away ( i was in a different town where I got cought )..


My main question is would I need a lawyer to represent me because I "breached my probation" or is Duty council ( legal aid ) just as good.

I do not have the money to pay for a lawyer and I cant let my folks know I got busted because they dont even know I "toke"

Don't bother hiring a lawyer. When you're on probation, you're expected to follow the law. It is always a condition of probation that you not break the law. So they have deffinate cause to revoke your probation, and a lawyer will not be able to help you.

Hire a solicitor --

Wheter you are aware of them or not, there may be rights to which you are entitled, even if you have violated probation. An individual knowledgeable in the law can ensure you have full use of your rights without unknowingly giving them up and securre you the best outcome in your particular situation.

and how much would a solicitor cost to hire? Couldnt I just get Legal Aid because its free?

alright thanks for the help all.

So far this is what I got down.

I should just show up to court without a lawyer, or hire a solicitor.


And one more question to the people that live in canada and got charged with having some chronic on them, How big is the fine? I know I have to pay the fine for breaching my probation, but how big is the fine for having the drug on you?

I know these might seem dumb question to some of you, but for me, Im kinda in a money problem and all these stupid things keep happening to me.

Solicitor or Lawyer -- depending on where in the world you live by the way.

Legal Aid or Public Defender -- is available to you if -- according to your income -- you are unable to hire a lawyer & you face a prison term as a possibility of your "trouble"

Most CountY Bar Associations in the US also have Low Cost laywers programs -- allowing attorney's to provide their community service hours necessary to continuing their standing as members of the Bar in the state. These programs lower the cost of per hour service and the initial fee for an attorney.

Call 411 and ask for you County Bar Asssociation and as for Low Cost Criminal Attorney for assitance.

For attorneys specific to Pot cases, www.nroml.org has a list of attormeys in your area. They are average cost for this type of work, but average is still an expense. They can provide you with representation knowledgeable in the field but you will pay for their expertise.
