the main reason that politicions wont legalize marijuana is because it will be imposible to tax it. Anyone who has tried to grow can tell you that its not exactly the hardest thing to do so why would anyone buy it when we could just grow it in a closet or out in the woods (P.S. if u try to grow in the woods put up chicken wire to keep out deers)

Actually that's not a very radical statement. Tobacco is more addictive than crack or heroin. If it were illegal, we'd have as big of a black market for tobacco as we do for any of the illegal drugs.

Funny, because we already do have a black market for tobacco

Unless you put it on a steep mountainside, then I'd be more concerned about the wind. It could get blown over in the middle of the night. Then you come back to that mountain to find your lovely plant covered in dirt, wilted, with bugs all over...

hypothetically speaking, of course.

I'm not sure if I buy this. I think we would definitely continue to grow our own for a while, but then the majority would stop. They would think "why go through all the trouble if someone else is willing to grow it." I mean, why don't people grow tobacco in their closets? Why aren't there more stills set up in the woods, if there is a tax on alcohol?

I think allot of people might grow it seasonally out door in their gardens. I think I would still want a gro-cab of my own though. I wouldn't trust big business tinkering with herb.

There is a large business in contraband cigarettes. They're bought in bulk (trailer truck loads) in states where the taxes are low and sold clandestinely in states where the taxes are high. Compared to the total volume of cigarettes sold it's tiny, as is the volume of moonshine sold compared to total booze sold.

Sounds like good business to me
I remember hearing about that now, but we don't see much of it here in NC. Tobacco state, yeah.

I agree, if it was legalized I think this would be the most common place for people to grow. Next, in greenhouses where advanced growers would still experiment with hydroponics, superweed, etc. Growing in closets would be virtually nonexistent.

I still think the majority of people would just buy it like the majority of people buy tobacco and alcohol.
