Hi there everyone... maybe someone here can help my wife and I out. We're new users and smoke about once a week (our little treat to ourselves after long and stressful weeks with work and the kids). We love it, but have to admit we're pitiful at rolling... so we thought we'd buy a pipe or two and we were looking at Grasscity.com. Does anyone know the legality of buying over the internet? Does it really matter? I assume it's illegal to send to CA, but I imagine it happens all the time. I was just wondering if anyone ever has or if there are any real risks to it or not.

Also, can anyone tell us a good place to see step-by-step instructions on how to properly roll a joint?

And finally, we have to get life insurance. What's the best way to go about this if we do smoke once a week? Do they test for marijuana? If so, what test do most life insurers administer? And how do you "fool" the tests? Or should we just not smoke for awhile (how long does it stay in urine/blood?)?

Sorry this is so long. Like I said, we're new. Thanks for your help.

Does anyone know the legality of buying over the internet?

Lot's of people buy online with no problems, check out this thread about how it is legal to sell pipes and bongs because they could be used for tobacco. You could always go to your local headshop too, and seeing as you are in California, that shouldn't be a problem.

Can anyone tell us a good place to see step-by-step instructions on how to properly roll a joint?

Check out the Methods forum, more specifically the Joints 101 thread. It has everything in there about what kinds of papers you should get and how to roll them. You could always get a rolling machine to roll joints for you too.

And how do you "fool" the tests?

Check out our Drug Testing forum for all the answers about fooling the bladder cops. I'm not sure if companies test for marijuana, but I've never been tested when I got insurance.

Welcome to the boards as HL said. Pipes arent illegal in any states. Weed however is illegal in all 50 states so unless they send you a pipe full of weed you should be fine. I do know however that bongs (tobacco water pipes) are illegal in some states even without drug residue. As far as life insurance sometimes you may be asked to take a physical but I have never heard of anyone having to submit to a UA. Another good idea for rolling if you are having troubles is try rolling with "Randys", they are a paper with a thin peice of metal on the inside used as a built in roach clip. Using these makes it much easier to get the "tuck" and also makes for an easy to pass doobie. Again, welcome to our community and the fight for legal herb.

You are wrong about pipes themselves not being illegal. Some states paraphenilia laws don't even require a PIPE to be smoked out of to be considered drug related, therefore paraphenila. Also, many types are actually banned by federal law, if I remember correctly. The distinction between "tobacco accesory" and "drug paraphenilia is getting blurrier every minute. That being said, I do live ion the states, and have ordered from Canadian sites twice, as well as one site based here in the US. Each and every order has gotten through customs and to me with absolutely no problem. Truth be told, I was a bit nervous the first time I ordered, but I honestly don't think twice abour it now. I really have no choice, as SD doesn't have a single headshop currently open in the entire state!

Wow! At the Stugis Motorcycle Rally a few years back I thought I saw one in Rapid City. Is it the regulatory climate or just a lack of business? One would suspect that papers are available in the local convenience store?

papers are available, as are blunts, rollers and whatnot, but no actyal headshop-s.....but during the Rally, you can find a few pipes and stuff here and there....high priced for basic stuff though. I dont know why there aren't any headshiops, but I'm sure its somewhat political....we did have 2 or 3 scattered around the state, but all had significant amounts of their inventories seized by the DCI.....

There are about a million headshops in California, just buy your "tobacco accessories" there
