If, in the United States, it is legal to smoke, and have marijuana as a rastafarian, i say whenever you get busted say "hey man i am a rastafarian".

Who are they to say you aren't, just read up a bit on them and you are set. You don't need to have a certificate that says you are a rastafarian, so you are in the clear!! I swear, i don't see a flaw in it!!!!

I can see one major flaw...it is not legal for a rastafarian to smoke marijuana in the United States.

Can you tell me what law says that it is ok for a rastafarian to have marijuana?

I have never heard of it. I know my state law doesn't exempt rastafarians, nor does Federal law, so I'm curious which law you are referring to. Does your state have one?

Ah, you may be referring to the latest news story on the front page. If you read closely it says that the judge ruled that Rastafarians may use it as a defense in their case, he did not guarantee it's success(and there is no guarantee other courts will agree with his ruling). And if you look at previous examples, such as several Native American tribes and their peyote or mescaline, you will see they have steadily been denied legal private use. Sorry to dissapoint you, but don't lose hope.

I simply said that it was not legal...and it is not. One judges ruling does not make something law. Your "plan" is exactly what is attempting to be prevented by those that make the laws.

Call it freedom of religion all you want...(and I am not disagreeing that it should be) but expect to get busted despite your "freedom".

what sucks is how the us gov wont even allow other relgious aspect to be done, they claim freedom of relgion etc YET they are pro xtain, look at your money once

I guess this is one of those "I wish i never posted this" type of thread. I guess i read it wrong!!! If you read the first paragraph, it AT THE TIME sonded like they said it is a valid defense.. I didn't understand much of the other stuff at the bottom!

Oh and the post i had before this, you edited saying flame extinguished, i didn't know i flamed someone.

I wan't jumping you. If you read what I wrote carefully, you'll see that I said I wasn't sure if you were right or not and simply asked you to provide me with the info you were referring to when you talked about it being legal.

I can't know every law in every state, so I asked. I'm sorry if asking you sounded like I was attacking you.

My interpretation of the Constitution is that freedom of religion should not infringe on your belief. I use cannabis in prayer. I thank God for it. Have for years. Yea, it is still illegal, but it should be legal for using it as a Christian, as indicated in the Bible, like the Rasta clans. The law sure seems to infringe in that area. If I am tech wrong, sorry, but most everyone understands the double standard cannabis receives in most facets of the law. Freedom has become a household word, but that is legally deceiving to me.
