DEPUTIES FIND BAGS OF SUSPECTED MARIJUANA IN HOME

In this bust, police didn't have to go searching.
The operator came to them.
Police said they found 12 garbage bags stuffed with suspected marijuana at a home in the Shannondale area of Jefferson County on Sunday afternoon after a woman decided to "come clean" about growing the drug.
"We don't get this often," said Detective Victor Lupis of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.
The woman, who is not being identified, has not been arrested, Lupis said. Police are continuing their investigation of the case, said Lupis, who made the find along with Deputy D.C. Tabler.
The woman first contacted the Fairfax County (VA.) Police Department about the operation, Lupis said.
After authorities determined the house was in Jefferson County, the woman agreed to meet sheriff's department investigators at the West Virginia/Virginia line Sunday about 5 p.m., Lupis said.
The woman took investigators to a house in Shannondale, a subdivision on Blue Ridge Mountain, Lupis said.
The house, owned by the woman and her husband, is near gate two, one of the main entrances to Shannondale, Lupis said.
"She opened the door and led us to what you see now," Lupis said to reporters in a room at the sheriff's department Monday.
Piled on a table in the room were 12 green garbage bags full of suspected marijuana. The suspected drug had been cut and put into the bags, Lupis said.
The suspected marijuana was grown in the basement of the home in a hydroponics operation, Lupis said.
Police also confiscated an electronic scale, bags used for packageing and two tanks of carbon dioxide, which help plants grow quicker, investigators said.
The police said they are still trying to determine how much the drug would be worth on the street. The growing operation had existed for about two years, Lupis said.

you know, i think its cool she came clean. but she should had givin it to her smokin friends or at least sold it quick then gave it up. do u think she will be fined and do time for have so much even tho she came clean?

Why would it be "cool" to turn yourself in and come clean? I, for one, never feel the need to alert the police when in possession of an illegal substance. I think there is much more to this story than what we've heard so far. Its likely her husband was dealing or something, and she thought this would be the best method of revenege for something he had done. Either that, or "someone" is after her for some reason, and she felt this would be the best method for keeping them away. No one in their right mind would willing cop to felony possession and a certain prison sentence for no reason. Most places, cultivation of a single plant is a felony. If she takes responsibility for the plants, she'll likely be serving some fairly major time. Coming clean in this case makes no sense whatsoever, and shes just plain dumb in my book. I see nothing cool about her "coming clean". Some people are idiots, and she has to be close to the top of the list!

heres what the state of virginia is gonna subject this insane woman. WHat a moron!! being "cool" would be donatiing it to the nearest ONCOLOGY hospital for cancer patients. GIVING up to the man?? implicating yourself??? she is gonna lose her home, her freedom, and much of her life. heres the time shes looking at just for cultivation:

Cultivation
Any amount felony 5 - 30 years $10,000

if shes lucky they might just hit her with this angle but i doubt it seriously..

Possession
Any amount (first offense) misdemeanor 30 days $500

Since when is it COOL to turn yourself in?? Please explain cuz when i was growing up TURNING ANYONE IN< WAS NEVER "COOL"

mikey

Yes. Remember, this is a "war" between the government and us drug users -- their term, not mine. They'll do almost anything for the chiiiiiildren, including throwing an old woman in jail in the name of publicity for turning herself in.

"Since when is it COOL to turn yourself in?? Please explain cuz when i was growing up TURNING ANYONE IN< WAS NEVER "COOL""

ok maybe i didnt word the sentence right. i ment that if she wanted to come clean thats great for her. but she did it in a stupid way. i didnt mean that it was "cool" she turned her self in to the police. i also agree that its not "cool" to turn people in for what ever reason. and i did say in the first post that she should not have givin it to the police but got ride of it quick then called it quites.

maybe she didnt like the burdon and stress of having to deal with it, worring about being cought etc.. so she stoped dealing with it and thats "cool" by me but she didnt have to do it in the way she did.
by "cool" i mean i dont know her, i dont realy care what she does.
does that clear by what i mean by "cool"?? i dont know how to word it.

i still stand by my earlier assumption that this woman is INSANE. i hope she can get off on the grounds that she is mentally unfit and needs some help. not the kind of help a metal cage can give...

freaking stupid prohibition of plants...

anyone who outlaws a naturally growing plant doesnt belong in government office because they are too damn stupid to be governing anything...

I agree with 3wheel, there has to be more to the story. Because if she did want to just quit, then its that simple. STOP. lol, don’t keep all the evidence around and call the cops.

Then again maybe she is mentally unstable, and had to "punish" herself...lol who knows these days...why people do what they do...
