| I don't see marijuana moving alone, the whole war on drugs is eventually going to come crashing down. It's already starting to happen in other nations and the move is growing here, as soon as enough of the world tells us to stuff our drug war we're going to have a hard time keeping it up on our own. Take a look at the letter written to the UN in '98 on the following web page, and look at who signed it. That's a pretty impressive list of people who are starting to think that the whole thing has failed and needs to be reconsidered, and the list would be larger today. Marijuana isn't going to move alone, none of the drug war makes any sense. Their best argument has been pot, that's why that's the one they try to stick to in spite of how weak it is stripped of the hysteria. With that they can at least pretend they are stopping kids from getting to harder drugs, once we start to actually look at the rest we're just killing our kids rather than protecting them. http://www.dpft.org/voices.htm

| Ten years from now. It's been ten years from now since 1968.

| I think an old saying fits well to this situation. "It's going to get worse before it gets better." I think pot will eventually be legal, but not any time soon; at least in the US. Mots of Europe already has pretty "liberal" marijuana laws and I think the US will eventually adopt similar relaxed restrictions. The main problem is that pot legalization and or decriminalization is not a major hot button political issue. Politicians take the stance on issues that will get them the most votes and thus elected to office; and pot legalization does not stir up the pot as much as lets say abortion or terrorism or taxes. When people start voting for pro pot politicians rather than pro war on drugs douche bags like they do now than pot will be legal. And to close this thread, something that should enrage some of you who don't want to accept the truth. If you voted for Bush or Kerry in the last election you effectively voted to keep pot illegal; or if you vote for republicans or democrats at all you vote for people who support the war on drugs. Now not all republicans and democrats support the war on drugs but the majority of them do. I think it was in New Mexico a few years ago where a republican governor supported legalization. New Mexico rules by the way; close enough to Vegas and far enough away from LA. |

| If it ever happens it wont be anytime soon. Our first step is to try and get the people who really need it for medical purposes able to get it leagally. Its a wonderous pain killer. |
