A few people have been saying that undercover cops sit at this park downtown in which regular tokers go to. And apparently they sit at a park bench smoking a bong with tobacco only but pretend it is weed, and ask suss-looking people if they would like a hit. And if the person accepts they take him in for questioning. Isn't this entrapment?

I think cops have better things to do than to sit on a bench pretending to smoke. Also no it isn't entrapment, the people are supposedly being taken in for questioning, not being arrested.

I don't think you can take a bong hit of tobacco and pretend its weed. Have you ever done a bong hit of tobacco? I did once when I made a bong and didn't have any herb for it. It is not pleasant. You will cough your ass off, more so than from a weed bong hit. I'm just saying that I think you'll notice.

Yeah, I knew it was too far fetched to be true. But I was just wondering, hypothetically, would it be entrapment?

Even if there were cops doing that, I don't think they could do anything unless you pack up the bong, and if you take a tobacco hit you'll probably say, "What the ****?" and leave. If cops offer you a hit from their pipe they have nothing to bust you for. I doubt they would even be able to search you since they do not have probable cause, as long as you don't tell them you have anything on you. This whole situation is just not practical from a law enforcement point of view. Just don't worry about it. Smoke a spliff and forget it.

It would depend on how it was presented. If you were led to believe it was tobacco and found it was pot, that would be entrapment. If you believed, or should have believed it was pot, then it wouldn't be if the only thing done was offering it to you or asking something like "wanna hit".

Anybody care-less enough to blatently light up in public,is not someone I would want to be seen passing a bong with in the first place.And ,if they have that little respect for others around them,then they probably have little or no respect for themselves ,and don't likely practice good hygene,so I wouldn't take a hit after them no matter what was in the bong.Entrapment4dumba$$ should be legal,IMHOb.s.

in the major cities here in norway like the capitol, oslo. undercover cops both smoke hash and use other harder drugs in order to get to the larger dealers and smugglers. i know this because i've not only seen people smoke up with smokers one day and being dressed in uniform the next. plus i know people who have caught undercover cops this way and naturally beat the living sh!t out of them. also my dad knew this one guy who looked really rocked and smoked alot but later found out that he was a cop.
