IMO the severity of your penalty depends on the judge, which is something you have no control over. I blame the person who made the call to the arresting officer. If they had been more educated about marijuana, perhaps they wouldn't have made that call. However, there's something to be learned out of all of this-- be more careful!

| yea, I know not to smoke in cars... pretty much every time I did I was caught! No I wont be smoking anymore, even after probation, or whatever my punishment may be. I cant, because for school I will be tested regularly. And I wont because it's caused so many problems. And, while I believe it's possible to have a problem with pot, I dont think I have one. Call it denial but I'll never agree. For one, I was smoking absolutely for free. Therefore no money spend, until now with court and everything. I didnt always smoke so many times a day, only this summer. This summer has been one big party... its not always going to be like that. Also I didnt understand what the penalties were If I was caught again. I had no idea it would be so serious, though I know that's no excuse. When I was in court the judge told me it was 'under advisement'. I didnt know it was considered 'probation' as I've never dealt with courts, and I didnt have a lawyer the first time around. Also, I thought that year was up. I got caught this july and went to court last year in may. It wasnt until this time that I found out i had to go BACK to court for them to tell me it was up.. I thought it just ended and that was that. I never had a drug test either. To me, a drug addict is someone who will sacrifice anything in their life to get high. A drug addict neglects basic responsibilities. In response to that I know someone will say " you know the punishment.. you sacrificed this and that.. blah" and that's not what I meant. If I were never caught, the pot, my 'drugs' woud never have been a problem. The only thing I've ever done other than pot is drink alcohol... and very rarely at that. So no I do not think I'm a drug addict. Especially since you cannot be addicted to pot! Maybe mentally, but that's the same as being addicted to chocolate cake. You dont NEED it. The biggest thing is, I live in a pretty small town. Its not like the cops are hiding in the cornfields waiting to catch you. I got cocky. Everyone around here that gets caught with just alittle, as in me, I had less than half a joint... The cops would usually let them go and take their pot. And usually they wouldnt search you. I, unfortunately, have only bad luck. |

Yeah, poor me.....like your the only pothead that has ever been "picked on" we all feel like victims when we get busted....sad fact is you aren't special, nor more than I was when I got busted, or Mr Joe Blow in timbuktu that busted. As long as pots illegal, we'll all have our stories. Just don't go into such a denial that you believe you were a victim here. I smoke pot...i know its against the law, but I do it anyway......the difference is I'm prepared pay the price. If I wasn't, I wouldn't smoke pot anymore.

| Does anyone have something constructive to say? Flaming her for a bad choice is not helping her situation. |

| No flaming is going on here. This woman has two MJ arrests inside of one year and is in deep trouble. We are only trying to provide a reality check. What do you think we should do, pretend life IS a fairy tale and it will all work out? She said she was an EMT - News Flash teufelfisch: she cannot be certified with an MJ conviction, she cannot work in a hospital with an MJ conviction, and she is about to appear before a Judge whom she promised to not violate any MJ laws. She does seem very nice, and I wish her well, but Daddy's money is not going to keep this Judge from making an example of her. Quote:
As for AFairyTaleLife; please consider the friends you hang with also. It is not enough for you to quit when your "friends" are leaving baggies and pipes in your back seat. Like MamaBudz says, please keep us posted.

| sadly, you can work at a hospital with a conviction. I've already worked and volenteered at 2 really big ones around here. They have random drug tests for you, though. Their rationale was that kids get MIP's ALOT while they're in college, but when they're on the job they arent partying, or if they are, they're getting fired. No, what you guys have said has not told me anything I didnt know or given me any advice for the future. The past is done, if I could go back I would undo it, with or without the comments. Also I found the person who's baggie and pipe it was: it was my brother's friend that I drove home a few nights prior. she also left her wallet, but that would sound bogus in court. so there's nothing i can do about it. |

| I know what you mean by 'cocky', but when I apply it to myself I call it ignorance I took a summer class 5 days a week that involved a 35min commute every day, and you best believe that I wanted to 'unwind' on the car ride home. I'm not quite sure why everyone's being so mean to you, but in any case if the girls wallet was in the car, why didn't the police find it? |
