Default How can VA Patients get Marijuana?

I was talking to an uncle who is regular visitor at the VA Hospital in St. Louis. He has arthritis really bad so I mentioned that he should try Marijuana. He knew about it already which I was relieved to find out. To get to the point here...He told me that there are folks in the VA Hospital that get to smoke Marijuana like every 4 hours just like prescriptions. A nurse comes in and stays there until he is finished. Takes the roach when he is done and flushes it (yeah right).

In Missouri we do not have any Medical Marijuana laws and since this is a Federal institutions I would have thought Marijuana would be forbidden. I have also confirmed this story with a nurse who works there and another inside source.

How can this happen?

Just trying to get a grasp on these laws and how they can possibly enforce them while supplying some individuals with herb and ruining the lives of others that have possession. Couldn't that be brought into court? Why is my treatment for depression a crime and a V.A. patient getting marijuana not?
This is just an example of course.

It's very simple. It is a crime. If patients are being supplied with cannabis it is entirely under the control of compassionate caregivers who would lose their jobs if what they're doing was ever revealed to administration or law enforcement.

There are five people in the whole country who are legitimately supplied with marijuana by the federal government. That's under an old experimental program to which no more patients will ever be admitted.

The Marijauna comes from the station where meds are kept for the patients from what I was told by my 78 y/o uncle. I just cannot believe that not one person would let this go unreported if it was not all justified in some sort of government regulation. I mean people blow the whistle at work all of the time for much less. Why wouldn't they at least report it? Unfortunately there is a huge percentage of folks who would not give a rats ass about compassion.

My uncle definitely knows what weed is. In fact he told me that he would smoke it but the only thing they sell around his street openly is crack. He said you really have to know someone to find weed. I thought that was funny. He has been addicted to pain killers (courtesy of the V.A.) for a long time. He said those pills have ruined his life because it just knocks him out four about 6 hours. Man I wish Marijuana was legal. I hate seeing him like that.

I'm a big fan Buzzby . You do a great job here. I have been with the site for about 5 years with other ID's. Not really a newbie. lol

I don't know how things are working at the VA hospital but I do know that it's not legal under federal law. If you can find out more about what's going on I'd be delighted to hear about it.
