| Law enforcement can lie as much as they want to get what they need until they cross the line to entrapment. Until it is legalized everyone doing something illegal needs to keep on their toes and keep their wits about themselves. Because they will be always be looking for new ways to bust us. But that is why we are all here, to get marijuana legalized so we don't have to worry about things like this. Hopefully someday soon smokers can stop being paranoid...well, atleast about law enforcement. ![]() |

| Hey, if they want to prosecute, the investigation has to be complete. Yes, I know it seems like a waste of money, and yes, I wish this hadn't happened. however, if the DEA intended to be successful in bringing down emery, an through investigation had to be done. Just becuae I might go on TV and say something like "I killed a thousand people" doesn't mean I an be arrested, tried and convicted, with my statements being the only proof. If that were the case, they could easily prosecute anyone here who has admitted to being in possession of marijuana at some time or another. However, as it is, and as it should be, more is required to get a warrent and arrest us. Was it a weaste of money? In my eyes yes. however, through the eye's of the DEA, such details were NECESSARY to carry out the investigation and create the liklihood of a conviction. I am glad they DID do an investigation that covered all their bases. I dread the day that heresay is enough to convict a person. Thats why, despite the Emery fiasco, I'm glad to be an American. Here, my guilt has to be PROVEN BEYOND A RESONABLE DOUBT. THAT is why the DEA went through such measures. Emery could make all the TV shows he wanted to. What he was doing with Pot_TV isn't all that much more outlandish than us discussing our marijuana use on a message board. If his shows could convict him, a good deal of messages found right here could convict members of this forum. Do you see what I'm getting at here? Would you have been more comfortable thinking they logged on their computers once, watched a pot-tv segement, and immediately rushed in to arrest him? I find that MUCH more of a scary thought than the DEA conducting a lengthy investigation into someone they thought was breaking the law. |

| I agree entirely. Although it sucks, of course, that they pushed their policy on us, I would hate if it didn't take that much proof to be convicted. Also, Canadian law provides the same rights as yours. Proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
