| got busted in the stupidest place - outside work. so the cop drives by, sees us and puts on brakes, i get scared and throw the stuff. the cop comes up to us and says he saw me throw something. then he takes my id and this other kid's id and talks to us, kinda shootin' the breeze. then he starts looking for it, asking us questions like who we got it from, how long we have smoked, about school, etc. then he finds a half of what we had and asks if that was all we had. so we said yes and he quit looking. then he ran background checks and made us stand in front of his car... so we're on camera. then he gives us our id's back and gives us a lecture on how we shouldn't "mess around with that s**t until later in life when you have a good job and a house..." it was weird. then he tore up the stuff and said "if you ever see me again, thank me later." then when he left he peeled out in front of my work. i'm scared that the people inside saw the cop talking to us, but i think i can tell them he was asking us if we had seen anything weird going on. but i'm also scared that this will come back and bite me in the a**. he asked us about college, he knows we work there, we're on camera. is there any way that could come back to haunt me? by the way, he never read us our rights, but we did submit to a pat search because we didn't have anything else on us after we threw it. |

| I think the chances of him taking the time out of his busy schedual just to check up on you to make sure your not smoking pot, are highly unlikly. =P Your EXTREAMLY lucky that he didn't arrest you or something like that... Or at least I think so. My boyfriend got caught smoking a joint and got charged with possesion. -sigh- Stupid law-happy police... =P It's a good thing you're quitting. I encourage it, in fact. Leave it until your old and your braincells arn't still developing. And next time, just so you know. You don't have to let them serch you. They have to have a warrant. And unless he had proof that he saw you toss something you could have lied... But since you were on camera it's a lot better that you did tell the truth. ^^; I'd say you'll be fine. He's not going to get to arrested or make you loose your job or anything.

| You, my friend, are lucky. You have experienced the selective enforcement of MJ laws that LEO's can provide. You must have passed the attitude test, the sobriety test and the threat assessment. Worry about whatever, but you have been given a break. If you do see that Officer again, you owe him that thanks. As for the advice from a Cardboard Box: Quote:
Good ending to a "busted" story here. By the way, how old are you? | |

| so nothing happened at work today. everything turned out okay. but suppose he hadn't let us go... would the case have held up in court? i wonder if it will because he didn't read us our rights before questioning us or looking for "evidence." i can't believe how lucky we were last night to have the one cool police officer my city has ever seen. btw i'm 19. |

| Did you think it was going to turn into a incident like at the beginning of the movie "Super Trooper"? Cop let's them go after asking for license and registration, then pulls them over again and asks the same questions lol. You were definatly lucky, the cop must have had a good day at work. It's not un common, i know some people who got pulled over, 4th of july was right around the corner. One of them was sort of drunk, swerved over lines, state cops pulled them over, found a bowl, then a 8th of marijuana and a few state banned fireworks. They had to crush the pot into the ground, as for the person who drank, he was given a breathalizer and passed it, the cops took the fireworks(probably kept those for themselves)all of them were let go without any tickets or arrests given. Even in my town, one of my friends was caught with i think 4 ounces or just under 4 ounces of marijuana, the cop knew him and his family, told him that he would have let him go but the thing was they had a rookie with them. He was also caught with a joint one time but he was pulled over because he was drunk so they searched him, found a joint on him and they arrested him, when he got to the station, one of the cops that knew him told the rest of them, "you people arrested him for a f*ckin joint" the other cops just said they could have given him a dwi if they wanted to but they let that go and just got him for the pot. |

| So far what i've learned is to be honest, let them know you have done your homework and know what your are doing. Since i started just telling the truth i've never got a ticket again! |
