I was reading the news and an article from the Ottawa Sun came up. It's entitled "Dopey Drivers in Sights and it is about the growing trend of smoking weed and driving, especially in teens. The article lead me to this site, The Pot and Driving Campaign. I was just wondering what everyone thinks about smoking up and driving. I personally have never done this, and I do not plan on doing it. I find it irresponsible to get high and get behind the wheel because I feel it increases the risk of serious injury or death, and I feel all drugs, including marijuana and alcohol, should be used in a responsible manner. However, I do have friends who do burn and drive, and swear they are better drivers, which I don't believe. I also don't get in their car when they are high. Is this campaign worthwhile? Any opinions on the subject?

I'm not trying to say here what goes for me and my friends goes for everyone but I have a group of like 10 friends and me who get high all the time and drive around every weekend. Only one of them is a bad driver when he's high but it's still not that bad, not like it's enough to get us pulled over or in an accident. You can also check under Claim No. 12 in the "Myths" section, it talks about that. This part of it seems to apply to me and my friends... "Drivers under the influence of marijuana also tended to decrease their speed and approach other cars more cautiously."

| Smoking weed and driving is the **** because you can listen to music, cruise around, and just chill out. Just follow the rules of the roadway and you'll be fine. A key is though, don't let a bunch of pot just sit around all over the seats and ****. If you're gonna go cruising and smoking smoke like a blunt or a joint so theres minimal amounts of weed in the vehicle and you aren't trying to load a bowl or something and get in a wreck or speed etc.

People who smoke a bunch of weed and drive are just as irresponsible as people who drink a six-pack and drive. Impairment is dosage-related. Driving after a couple of hits is cool, just like driving after drinking one beer. Getting really high and driving endangers the smoker, his passengers, and everyone else on the road.

It doesn't make sense to hunch over and let sidestream smoke go in your face. It doesn't make sense to reach for a j that is still being hit. It doesn't make sense to compare flying an airplane to driving an automobile.

Z.C. Steps to Transporting Marijuana and Being Undetectable by K-9 Units (Follow these steps and you will have no worries) 1. Wash hands 2 to 3 times. (Make sure you have not pot residue on your hands.) 2. Use a pair of brand new, perfectly clean rubber gloves. 3. Insert no more than a quarter of marijuana in a vacuum sealer. (You can get for as cheap as $40 at most department stores.) 4. After all the air is removed from the sealed baggy; clean with soapy water, dry, then add a little bit of bleach or rubbing alcohol and wrap the air-sealed bag in another baggy. You should repeat this until you have a total of 5 or more baggies wrapped around each quarter. (Every time you open another zip-lock bag and toss the previous bag in it, you should rotate between applying a thin coat of bleach and rubbing alcohol.) 5. Make sure that there is no residue on any of the bags, and you should scrub the outside of second to last layer of baggy multiple times with some type of soap, add a light coat of both bleach and rubbing alcohol, and finally insert and seal tightly in the last baggy. 6. Next, open solid color mustard, ketchup, (or shampoo bottle if absolutely necessary,) and insert the baggy and push towards the bottom or until no longer visible. (Feel free to add a small amount of pepper to the mustard or ketchup to help cover the scent). (If the baggy will not stay towards the bottom, you can add just enough candle wax to weigh it down and this will also help in covering the scent of marijuana.) 7. Now, after the baggy is fully submerged and not visible, tightly replace the cap back onto the bottle, keep the seal attached if in any way possible, and cover the outside of the bottle with a light coat of a clear deodorant, and let stand. 8. After a minute or two, use dry paper towels and be sure to wipe the bottle perfectly clean of swirls and build-up. (You don’t want a ketchup bottle to smell too much like something like old spice deodorant.) 9. Finally, place the ketchup/mustard/shampoo bottle(s) in a freshly washed and cleaned cooler, along with other things such as drinks, a couple packs of hotdogs or hamburgers. Don’t forget to grab some ice to fill in some space in the cooler, a pack of buns or two, some napkins, and plastic-wear all in a bag close to the cooler so it is visible and in a very natural, non-suspicious setup. (Things to keep in mind while traveling long distance with a large quantity of marijuana) • Shampoo bottles, Coffee bean cans, and peanut butter jars are most commonly used and detected, so use only as a last resort. • Try to keep no more than a quarter in each container/bottle. (Cant be too think.) • Local pet stores sell pet-deodorizer very cheap. It would be a good idea to have something odorless like this, instead of the strong, noticeable scent of something like febreze, which cops will smell as soon as they approach the vehicle. (I recommend a product called “Lust Buster,” a spray intended to deodorize the smell of a female dog in heat, in other words, the male dog will not be attracted and will pay little attention if any to the scent. (So apply this to your whole interior!) • Having things such as American Flags and “Support our Troops,” magnets on the bumper of your car (even if only for the ride down and back), automatically gains you respect from a following behind officer, and might just keep you from being pulled over. • Having things that relate to partying, drugs, or anything that will grab an officer’s attention anywhere on your vehicle, should defiantly be removed before leaving. (Cops look for these things.) • Travel with the flow of traffic and if possible, try to be driving during regular daytime hours. (It’s not good to be 2:00 am and just you and a cop on the road driving side by side or behind one or the other.) • I recommend not smoking on the trip down too. Dogs will detect the smallest scent of it. Also, you should bring brand-new bowls and papers that have never been used and secure them in a good hiding place because previously used bowls will be detected by the dogs. You could also just purchase a piece or a couple packs when you arrive to your destination. • Before you begin your trip, make sure all lights, tires, turn-signals, etc., are working properly so you do not get pulled over. Also, it’s a good idea to just leave an hour or two early and drive the speed limit, just to be on the safe side. • Make sure you vacuum and wash your car thoroughly a couple times; spray down with deodorizer about a couple of times, (probably a good idea to keep the sprays in the backseat or trunk instead of right in the front seat.) • Even grabbing a couple air-fresheners wouldn’t be a bad idea; leaving absolutely nothing for the dogs to detect. • Don’t get really nervous as if you were trying to hide something and always be respectful, using yes sir, no sir, if pulled over. It will pay off.
