i am thinking about getting some mail order weed but i am 18 and still live with my parents. i dont want to have it delivered to my house and then my parents open it up so i was wondering if i should rent out a post office box. is that safe/smart?

I don't know about po boxes, but be careful on ordering mj. Its danerous and most are traced by some type of authority. I had a buddy busted on ordering mj on the internet. So watch it.

You must be talking about seeds..... anyway, if you still live at home, then you need to smack yourself, and realize that you are screwing with them, in trying to do that. Move out, or at least be reasonable.... my god...how selfish can you be, living at home, and wanting to risk your parent's lively hood over MJ..... ARE YOU CRAZY, OR JUST THAT STUPID.....

It is extra stupid to ship it to a place where you have to go there (on camera) and pick it up. They have systems that can usually guess when a package contains weed, then they X-ray it and there is no way to protect the shipment from that. USPS, FedEx and UPS are extremely adept at stoping outsiders from shipping weed.

However, I know from a friend that insiders ship drugs prolificly. I wouldn't do it yourself tho, if I was you.

Shipping seeds in a different story. They are very small and nearly impossible to detect. Also, if they are X-rayed they do not look like a big bag of pot.

It is possible to mail a very tiny amount (like an 8th). Do it like this: Have your friend buy a couple rolls of film and use one of the film canisters to contain the pot. Make sure there are a couple of other canisters there to obscure an X-ray. Also, have them put some cassette tapes in with the film. This will make an X-ray look very non-weedlike. Good luck, and don't be stupid and try to ship quantity, unless you like talking to judges.

So nycrypt - have you ever seen an x-ray machine outside of your dentist's office? How about the image that screening systems present and what colors are present for various densities? Is the image one-dimension. or two, or three? What will present as Red and what will present as Blue? Can it see through aluminum?

You have several times suggested that the image may be obscured by packing other items adjacent - time to put you money where your mouth is because my personal experience and training is otherwise. These aren't the dentist x-rays we're talking about - and computers are proofing the image as well as humans.

Ever notice how the screen is never accessable to the general public in an airport? Tricking an x-ray is up there with tricking a dog. Just sayin . . .

Actually, MANY people order weed and have it shipped through the mail. Scroll down the page on these very forums, and you'll notice a section titled "Online Marijuana retailers" I know of several people, including moderators on this very site, that have successfully ordered from at least one of these distributers, safely and securely. I was a bit hesitant at first myself, but people I trust and respect have done it, and were impressed with the quality and price of the merchandise

I have no specific details about the X-ray process. That is why I think the only way to get past them is to have a very small amount of pot and to put plenty of innocuous items near it that will stick out more than the weed (like metal times). As far as computer analysis, it would be possible for a computer to detect the signature of large amounts of weed (by density, etc...) but I think that if the detection system tried to find small amounts it would generate too many false positives to be useful.

I was able to successfully smuggle about half an 8th on a domestic flight by putting the pot in the bottom of a pouch of tobacco and putting that inside my toiletries bag. It would have required a very lengthy examination of an X-ray to notice the weed. They don't have enough time to examine every X-ray in that kind of detail.

There is one difference, at airports they are screening mainly for bombs and weapons while the postal services screen more heavily for drugs. Still, if the pot is contained to prevent the smell from leaking and surrounded by metal and dense objects (like rolls of 35mm film and cassette tapes) then I think the probability of it being detected could be significantly reduced.

You are doing a disservice by advising people based on what you "think" might be possible. You are wrong about x-rays technology, about TSA in airports and you demonstrate very poor judgement by placing weed in your luggage.

You do understand that people are not actually carring bombs and weapons onto airplanes - so the TSA is looking for weed because it demonstrates that their being complete in their search. They need to find contraband - and weed is excellent because they can then require the agency with police authority to cite the individual which provides a record.

And humans search luggage too. My own experience in getting busted in an airport was because the X-Ray machine was down, and the TSA was hand searching all luggage. So your simpleton approach does not account for any variations in routine - and you will get busted.

Current technology will see right through your suggested methods, regardless of how many trinkets you put in your luggage - and who x-rays film? By my own admission I am not familiar with the use of x-rays in mail movement - but I know about airports, the TSA and flying with your weed.

Domestically, put it in your whitey-tighties, internationally don't try it. Never put it in your luggage, checked or carry on.

I was told by someone who works with UPS, that they do not have the facility to x-ray all the packages that come through their company. He said that UPS is a business and would not do anything to discourage costomers from using their services. As long as their is no smell and you are not mailing pounds you will probably be fine. However the US mail is a different story. That would be a felony. I have heard that UPS, and FEDX are in this to make money. As long as there is nothing like a smell they will leave your packages alone. Just think of how much man power would be required to xray all packages that looked suspicous. They could not promise you overnight service. They would have to have an xray machine that could handle thousands of packages at a time. They would not make any money. I could be wrong, but think about it.
