besides you have just as much a right to state your opinion in school as you do anywhere else in america we have freedom of press they cant violate that constitutional right ,that means you can write anything you want and distribute it to anyone that you want to without getting in trouble im sure the school would threaten you but just bring up that right that we all posses and tell then you refuse to let them violate your rights , i was harrased all the time at school cuzz i used to bring hightimes magazines to read after i finished my work (the teacher told us we could read magazines after we were finished) she told me to give it to her i said "you told us we could read magazines"she said "give it to me and go to the office" i said ill go to the office but your not getting my magazine" so when i got to the office the principle told me to give him the magazine so i said "where in the school rule book does it say anything about liturature about marijuana" he looked and looked for it and only found a section about no clothes or jewelery depicting drug use so i said "thank you for your time me and my magazine are going back to class now" needless to say the teacher was pritty pissed that i got to continue to read my hightimes but nothing ever happened to me over it

In the name of providing a safe enviorment conducive to learning (by their definition of course) schools have gotten away with countless actions that we might consider a violation of our rights. Those decisions have been upheld by the courts.

Once on school grounds...I would be careful to follow their rules. You can of course feel free to violate them, but do not think you will be safe from consequences by talking about your rights.

Unfortunately, as underage students in a public school....your "rights" are not as clear cut as you make them out to be.

I have no idea what the rules are concerning distribution of flyers of this sort...but I can almost guarantee that they do not encourage it. While I think it is a noble idea...sometimes we have to think practically. Leaving yourselves open to unnecessary hassle and consequences does nothing to further the fight. All it accomplishes is to get yourselves labeled as malcontents, and paints the issue of legalization in a negative light.

I am not trying to discourage the spirit I see reflected here. The movement needs the fire that I see displayed in this thread. I just would like to see that fire with a little more direction.
