| Doggies! something I actually know something about (though I'm surrounded by kitties now). Okay, to wrap up this part of the argument. A dog's olfactory bulbs (sense of smell) are 10,000 times more astute than humans. From my experience, one cubic centimeter of ammonia has far more an odor than one cc (or ml) of sand. My conclusion is that a given mass can be more odorous, depending on its substance. Machines detect particles and dogs the scent. To what absolute degree can be detected has to slightly vary on the particular dog or sensitivity of a machine (a microscope can be considered a machine, scientifically). To conclude, I don't know what amount of coke can be detected, but it is logical to assume that some drugs have a more potent smell than others, so I wouldn't rest on a given amount to be applicable to all drugs. How much coke ... don't know. Let's move on before the moderators strike me down with their thunder (sorry GG, trying to settle somewhat objectively). To the point of the thread, any trafficking involves substantially more risk than purchasing locally. There are some ways that are safer than others, but when all is said and done, one must weigh the risks with the benefits. For me, I'd choose the safest route. |

| Before you guys get postal, I have a question about the postal system ![]() Does the post office check mail with dogs? X-Ray machines? Sheesh I thought there were privacy laws in regards to mail. Also Niteshift- I just found out I have to be fingerprinted for a new job (I work as a nurse), do you know if these fingerprints go into a national database? I was shocked to hear my employer even does this. Maggie | |

| {{Moderator Note: Drugs other than marijuana are not to be discussed here as per Marijuana.com policy.}} Also, as TXM was saying before with regards to why you would go through the hassle of shipping vs. picking up a bag from your local dealer is simply a matter of supply and demand. In some cities where supply is low, an oz of good bud can go for $450, where in other places where good bud is grown locally, it may only market for $80/oz. So you put it in a package, send it to a friend and you both pay for college Born420 | |

| Really, they do hate talk of drugs on these boards. They say it over and over. Just go to www.other drugs.com if you are into that type of stuff.

| "Does the post office check mail with dogs? X-Ray machines?" I can't answer that for you maggie. "Sheesh I thought there were privacy laws in regards to mail." There are. However, courts have consistently ruled that you have no reasonable expectation of privacy regarding the odor that escapes the package. Also, warrants. "do you know if these fingerprints go into a national database?" Most likely. Fingerprints are compared against, ultimately, the FBI database. When a set is compared, it is also entered for future comparison. Now, with the AFIS system, it's even easier, linking all the national and most state databases together. I get responses from other states in minutes, not days. "I was shocked to hear my employer even does this." Just guessing, since I don't know what state you are in, but most states require fingerprinting for certain professions, nursing is commonly one of them. More than likely, it's not your employer doing it, they are being required to do it by the state. |

| Thanks for the response Niteshift. I am in Ohio. So they want to check to see if I've ever been fingerprinted before and/or to add them to the data base? I prefer not to be fingerprinted when I haven't been convicted of a crime, I just accepted a job, but I'm finding you give up a certain amount of privacy with certain professions. I guess if I ever did want to send pot in the mail I better watch out for fingerprints now! Maggie | |

| Maggie, Maggie, Maggie .... I have a comment about mail privacy. UPS checks packages without any reason, and it's legal!!! While the package is in their hands it is, in a way, their property. I reported them searching every package I received in the last 2 years, and they acknowledged and defended it by saying it is to protect their employees from possible bombs. No rights, no nothing, and they maintain it, so I maintain my right to never ship UPS again! |

| I know of someone who put some weed in a plastic film container- the ones you throw away after you load your camera. They hollowed out a large candle and placed it in there then melted the wax and sealed it up. Then wrapped that in plastic and bubble wrap. Boxed it up and sent it to a PO box with a bunk return address. It worked. You can be creative when you're desperate and just moved. ![]()

| That hurts He was a bit of a wise as$ though. Just so we're on the up and up, my apologies for straying the conversation away from pot before. I was just curious about what nightshift was saying about the 'drug' not holding the smell but rather the chemical it was derived from. I'm a pot smoker at heart and have little interest in other substances. Sometimes however, what is learned from the trafficing/production of other drugs can be applied to grass. Again, my bad just trying to stimulate the conversation. Peace, Born420 *Smoke one for me in 15 days!* | |
