Marijuana prohibition sure does destroy people's lives.

While I agree that that seems a little harsh/over the top, I would also question why you would smoke marijuana while you are on probation and subject to random drug screenings at anytime. That just doesn't seem very smart.

Yep, I'd have to agree with the rest and say that your situation does suck major ass. However, it was probably a mistake to be honest about your pot use, even if the intention was bona-fide. I've found the best way to deal with these situations is to just say you don't smoke.

Whenever I'm asked or the conversation veers toward illegal drugs, I adopt a mentality that everyone is my mom. The only time I reveal about my use is to someone who has more to lose than I do. I totally see where you're coming from, not making a huge deal of your pretty much infrequent use to the authorities, given the fact that you (did, at least) hold a steady job. Even though I'm in pretty much the same scenario as you, in that I occasionally smoke and I'm still reasonably responsible (still in school, though), I don't see the benefit of telling anyone about it. It just deesn't make sense in the long run.

Huh...?
Can you think of anything else that 90% of hard drug users did before they became addicted?
I can: ate a hamburger, went to school, went to church, read a newspaper, etc.
So, what, do these activities lead to harder drugs as well?

You appear to be SOL. Sorry man.

I'm sure you realize it now, but just to reiterate, you never, ever tell anyone in the "criminal" justice system how you really feel. It's all "Yes, sir," "No, sir" and "I'll never smoke the demon weed again and will report everyone who does, sir." This may leave a bad taste in your mouth, but lying to the fuckers really does more damage to them than telling them the truth by keeping them completely and totally in the dark.

For your situation, maybe explain to your PO about how your job conflicts with these meetings? Otherwise, attend the meetings, get off, get a new job and move on.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, how much are you being charged to save you from the ravages of marijuana addiction?

That's the good old LEO I have come to know too well. PO and Parole officers are the worst of them ALL. Just nasty people. Well, not all of them, but the majority I meet were.

I WOULD BE AFFRAID TO ASK BUZZBY. You know it's in the hundreds if not thousands.

WNB is so right. When a man is wearing blue, lie till it hurts you.

And you told them lsd too. 2 months aint nothing after the 4 3/4 years you have already done. As long as you give them no reason to give you a new charge. I would probably just flake on them for the next two months tilll i maxed out the time. You do know after the 5 years you are free. you can quit the classes, and walk away. As long as they have no new charges on you.

The new PO will be a good congressman 1 day.

Alex waiting on the herring....

Absolutely. When you go on probation or parole, you sign an agreement that you will not break any laws, that you will not use any illegal drugs, etc. You also sign a waiver of rights, so you agree that you, your car, and your residence can be searched at anytime, and you agree that you will be randomly drug and alcohol screened at any time.

If you sign that agreement, and then they drug test you and you come back positive, you have nobody to blame but yourself.
