| Hi. Let's say it's lunchtime and you are driving to your local establishment for some food and happen to have a bag of weed in your car, not in plain view. If an off/on duty cop with his K9 pulls into the spot next to your car while you are in the restaurant and the dog goes nuts, can anything happen? Is it a realistic possiblility that the dog will even smell anything? I ask this because I left lunch today and saw a civilian car with stickers that said active K9 handler or something on it. I had nothing on me at the time but was left wondering if anything would happen if I did. I know that at highschools and other places that you have no privacy in your car and that cops with dogs regularly sniff around the parking lot, looking for cars with pot in them. Does the same rule apply for private establishments? |

| That thread only partially answers my question. I see that drug dogs are not constantly sniffing for drugs, but what if a police officer decides to make him sniff for drugs? In that thread, the drivers were inside the car. I am talking about if you are not at the car, like in a highschool, or private establishment. I graduated highschool before they had dogs sniff the parking lot (and I never had anything on me anyway), but I know that you still get in trouble/arrested if you have pot in the car and are nowhere near it. I am asking if a cop is within legal rights to randomly search assorted parking lots located in towns and wait at the car or something for the owner to get back and then search or arrest. |

| This post reminds me of a George Carlin sketch I heard a long time ago where he relates this story about a smartass kid in his CCD class when he was a kid. The kid would spend all his time thinking up really wierd hypos. For example, he would ask rediculously stupid questions like if god is all powerful could he make a rock that was so heavy that even he couldnt move it. I wonder if my professors did this sort of thing in lawschool when they though about our exams. You know just getting really stoned and thinking up a really rediculous hypo. This post is truly absurd. Cops arent going to sit in the parking lot at your local supermarket and have dogs sniff all the cars for drugs. Anyway drug dogs work differently than you think. Its not like they are looking for drugs 24-7. They arent going to go crazy because you have a joint in your car. |

You appear to be a perfectly healthy, slightly neurotic and slightly weed induced paranoid young person who should not be driving with weed in the car. Please continue on the K9 thread Buzzby directed you to. ...and have a cookie Mama Budz | ||||
