If you have never been on probation or know anything about probation officers then do not read any further. Hi i am very paranoid as always and i was wondering your guys opinion on somthing debatable. Ok basically im suposed to get off probation saturday june 24th 2006. My PO said that was my discharge date but she doesnt work on saturday(i dont think any PO's work on wekkends). So she said to call her on thursday the 22nd and basically that would be my last meeting with her. I was just wondering if i am in the clear to blaze? I dont want to get high and then on friday have her call me and tell me that i have to come in and piss in a cup. I know most of you are probably thinking just wait one day but ive heard that a lot and that is not the question being debated. the question is...will she be able to test me? Im definatly going to ask her if i have to take anymore drug tests and if she says no then can she call me back the next day and change her mind? They cant lie to you can they? If there is any chances of her calling me back im going to wait until friday night when the courts close. But i was pretty sure that she said i was off porbation completly today. the phone call will be the deciding factor. If she says ya u are off but i have your number in case i need u for somthng than im going to wait for sure. BUt again if she says that i am off probation but your papers wont be sent out until saturday....am i ok to smoke? please if you have any insight on this matter say so soon because i have to call her in 6 hours and i cant sleep! ahhhhhhhhh..

Wait....its the safest option. Until you KNOW you are absolutely in clear, why take the risk? What if she DOES decide to test you on Friday? I know many people who have been tested during their last few days or parole/probation, so its definitely not unheard of. Some PO's actually require a final, clean drug test as a condition of discharge. If you've held out this long, it only makes sense to wait the extra day. Wouldn't it suck to get violated on the day you were supposed to regain your freedom?

edit- I've never been on "real probation" but am currently on unsupervised probation.....and I have a bachelor's degree in Criminal justice as well.

i get what u are saying but that is not my question..if i call her tommorow i do beleive she would tell me if im done or not. so i will know if i am clear.this is supposed to be my last meeting. i am going to ask her if she wants me to drop one more time. my question is can she lie? techniqly im still on probation until saturday? maybe maybe not....it could be she send the papers today. even if she doesnt, im still going to ask if there is anything i need to do between now and saturday. if she says no am i clear is wat i am asking. she cant lie to me can she? she has to tell me?

by the way i also was called in for a drug test yesterday(wednesday). not by her but by this progam i am in. so if that has any relevance....

I'm not entirely sure on the specifics of what you are asking, but I don't know of any requirement that P.O's be entirely truthful. I know cops can and will lie to you if its to their benefit, and can do so legally. I don't know if the same would hold true for a PO or not, in all honesty

Why risk it for 3 days. You have gone this far another 3 days will not kill you. I know the feeling of wanting to spark up but can't for fear of the test. Some PO's are mean and might trick you. What are you going to do? If you ask her if she is going to test you that might raise a red flag and cause her to test you. You say you know most are going to say to wait so why and what are you asking? If they can lie? Of course they can lie. They can do it by omission. She can easily say "I don't remember telling you that" and screw you with a smile on her face. PO's are not your friends so don't trust them.

wat if i record the phonecall. also i hope she gives me a test today. i want her to say that she is so i know im going to have one and then im set. wat i really the difference of her calling me friday then monday? really none. i wont hvae my dischaarge papers. if she can lie to me then she can call me anytime basically.i believe i read somwhere that stated that no1 employed by the courts can legally lie to you. she can like u said trick me but it would be my word against hers. I am asking these questions for debate because i have debated it with many people who have been on probation and its a split in opinion 50/50. all im saying is that if she says that i am off today then im off? after im off she cant test me? I have heard of people getting tested their last day blah blah blah but not of a PO saying that u are off and then later on calling u and saying that she tricked u. but also this is up for debate i could be wrong. i hope that i DO call her today and she tells me i need to come in for one last drop. i really hope that. better today then later when im not clean. u guys are right...why risk it? well because im an addict....im sure u all are. the risk isnt very big in my book. another thing is u think that a PO is going out of her way to catch u? she has a million other things planned in a day. i always try to get ahold of her and she never returns my callss and always says she is too busy. im just another number to her, not even sure if she remebers my name. again all im asking is if she says i am off today then i am off? she cant legally call me and ask for me to come in and test after im off probation right? as backup i was going to say im going up to another city like 2 hours away for somthing i have to take care of friday. just in case she had the thought of calling me to test. and if she did then shed prolly be like oh ok well why dont u come in a test today then. at least it would get it out of her. also wat if i didnt pick up my phone? i am supposed to work all day friday. peopl have lives. PO's cant expect u to get up and drop everything for one test especailly if they told u that u are done can they? im rambling on so im done talking. right now im still 50/50. depends how the convo goes. ill let u guys know once im done talking with her. god i want to smoke...i desrve it

You said the key thing there, discharge papers. Until you have something written in your hand you are not safe. They can lie and they can't lie. It isn't the PO that decides anything final. It is the judge. The PO can revoke your probation or file a violation but ultimately it is the judge's decision what to do. So I don't know how many judges would say "well she shouldn't have lied to you so I am just going to overlook this and give you a free-bee." Chances are if she does lie and you could prove it, both of you would get in trouble and that isn't going to help you. If you screw up even though you were lied to the judge might also increase your time on probation. Would that be worth not waiting 3 more days?

well in that case i woulnt have my papers in about 2-3 weeks. and your PO has a ton of say in wat happends to u especailly at this point in my term. when i violated my first time the judge asks ur PO wat she think should happen to u. and more often then not the judge will be ok with it. i remebr the guy b4 me failed for cocaine and missed like 3 drug tests. i thought he was going to jail for sure and his PO said that he doesnt need to go to jail and the judge was like...well mr so n so, ur PO is more nice than i would be and he didnt go to jail. and that is a true story im not just making that up to rationalize or prove anything. also wat about illegal searches? one of my boys that is a dealer i remeber he got popped and they found pounds on him but he went to court and said they illegally serached his apartment. same thing. i mean they did catch him red handed no doubt about it but nothing happend because they searched him illegaly. if it is illegal for her to lie then...well u get my drift. but if i wanted to be 1000% sure, yes i should wait and i know it. prolly wouldnt have to wait 3 days even. prolly could smoke friday night since the courts close at 5 and on saturday she doesnt work so how could she call me in? she woulndt call me from home. idk im jus trying to get opinons that is all. my friend will prolly talk me into it. ill have to see wat she says. but if ur saying i should wait until i have my discharge papers then id have to wait like 3-4 weeks. i know one of my friends never got his discharge papers but she obviously never called him back or anything. again i want to hear wat everyone has to say and i will let u know wat she says

your "walking/freedom" papers are what you need, things can and usually change, keep in mind that your P.O. is not your friend and the P.O.'s job is not to be your friend but to "make sure you are following the straight and arrow.......

and the bottom line is that until you have your "probation terminated" papers
(no job is finished until the paper work is done).

they say the love one gives to himself is the best love there is.........but also remember that "screwing yourself is never fun"

so wait for the proof that you are again "free" to do what you want, its the safest thing

Honestly, if you think you're paranoid now, go ahead and blaze before this is all settled. You'll reach a whole new height of paranoia during that high, and probably have a big time panic attack.

I know your question is more about your PO and can he/she lie to you, etc. You will not get a firm answer to this, and troublemaker42 and others have already nicely detailed your reality.

sorry, i'm just in a mood. I just do not get the whole probation thing and how people are willing to screw themselves for a simple high.
