Simple possesion fines in Ohio have now bottomed out at 81.00 dollars in Ohio.

Recent Municipal court listings show as public record possesion of marijuana cases ordered to pay a fine of 81.00 dollars and court cost's......

Used to be a 100.00. I'll be glad when it's like a parking ticket.....

I was just telling my wife earlier today....if there was a "weed license" that ran 500 bucks, that exempted you from the possession laws, I'd jump on the opprotunity. When the court costs, etc are figured in, thats about the same as a possession charge here. I'd rather be able to pay it up front and relax. As it is, its more the stigma of additional criminal charges on my record that bothers me than the cost of being caught. If it were a civil violation here with a fine of $100 or less, I'd be a happy man. If I can pay a 100 bucks for 1/4 of good weed, I can afford it to pay for my stupidity if I was caught.

Why the hell should I have to pay a fine if I get caught with marijuana? No one pays a fine for possession of beer or cigarettes, except maybe minors. Which in my opinion are worse than pot.

Cultivation of under 100 grams is a minor misdemeanor, and cultivation between 100- 200 grams is a misdemeanor. chances are pretty good that you won't do jail time, even on bigger grows.

its important to note that its an 81.00 ticket, and a minor misdemeanor, which means there is no record of it- in essence it is a parking ticket.

@Waldo- I don't think it will ever be "Legal". there may be medicinal laws in place, and general tolerance in liberal areas, but to be 100% legal? I think you'll see cigarettes outlawed before then.

People DO get fines for smoking cigarettes in public places. its against the law pretty much statewide now, at least all the bigger cities...You also get fined for walking down the street with a beer in your hand, or public intox.

However, in a liberal state where they don't stand to profit from overzealous enforcement, they tend to look the other way alot more.

Maine and Ohio are the best states that I can find on the east coast.

Really? how is a beer worse than a bong rip? or a cigarette? if you think that smoking pot isn't as hard on you as smoking tobacco, remember that you are still putting irritants and pollutants in your lungs.smoking cigarettes is a more useless vice, and a vice I have.but in my opinion, bashing other vices to justify your own isn't good politics.

And alcohol has many medicinal uses, as many as pot probably- my grandfather drank a Manhattan a day on doctors orders, to help thin his blood. As long as its enjoyed responsibly alcohol is no Demon.

Moderate and occasional use of any of these drugs is probably harmless. Intensive and frequent use of alcohol and tobacco lead to many illnesses and death. Intensive and frequest use of marijuana leads to a chronic cough, at worst. Unlike tobacco smoke, marijuana smoke does not cause lung cancer.

Both alcohol and tobacco are quite toxic. An overdose of alcohol can lead to a quick death. There's enough nicotine in one cigar to kill five men, if they were to eat it. There is no practical toxic level for marijuana.

Ohio has some awesome weed laws (relatively, of course), but Ohio is a Republican strong hold and tends to be conservative. The funny, and weird thing is, most of the liberal states are harder on weed than most of the conservative states.

True conservatives seek to limit the size and scope of government, especially federal government. True liberals seek to expand it. This is why I consider myself a conservative, although I don't care for many of the so-called "conservatives" in Washington.

Yep. I'm in a "red" state surrounded on all sides by other red states and up to a pound is a misdemeanor with a small fine here.
