| About a month ago I was driving on a relatively small street in my town, the speed limit on the street is 25 and I was doing between 35 and 40 which is the usualspeed of traffic there. a cop pulled me over claiming: 1. that he paced me at 50 mph and 2. that my car absolutely reeked of marijuana I can accept claim 1 and I plead guilty to the speeding ticket and am simply paying the fine. As for the second claim, I am sure that my car does not smell of marijuana in the least as the only things that I smoke in it are cigarettes and I clean it very regularly. This was on a monday after a weekend when some friends of mine from out of town had come in to party and they had left marijuana pipes and off-topic substances in my car. The officer asked me if he could search the car and i told him that i did not consent to a search so he arrested me for speeding(I am not sure if this is allowed) and searched the car anyway. during the search he found a small marijuana pipe in the glove box which he removed from the vehicle and brought with us to the station. He also found a baggie of some off-topic substances which he placed back into the car after smelling. he told me that he was suprised becuase he thoguth he would find a brick of pot in my car. It does not suprise me that I was searched due to the fact that my appearance is far from "normal" but I wonder if the methods used were legal. The cops were very nice about the whole incident and even let me pull my car into a parking lot instead of towing it so that i could just walk up and get it after we finished at the station.(The police station is only about a quarter mile from where i was pulled over.) At the police station they put the pipe that they confiscated into an evidence bag and had me sit, uncuffed on the floor of one of their offices for several hours while they discussed whether or not to fill out paperwork. no charges were filed as far as I know. |

| Perhaps you could identify what you thought was the strange behavior? I fail to see it in your post.

| The only "strange" thing is that they didn't charge you with possession and paraphernalia after taking the trouble to arrest you and take you to the station. The practice of arresting people for some minor violation so that a search can be performed has been tested in court and is legal. I'd be thanking the supernatural agency in which I believed. They might have simply decided that you were too small and threw you back in the water.
