| Earlier today two cops showed up at my dorm room when I was at class. They talked to my roommate and stated they were looking for me. They had a package in hand in which they probably beleived to have weed in it. The package was suppose to arrive via USPS overnight mail almost a week ago but never showed. It was traveling for Oakland, CA to PA. Seeing as I never had possession of the package and there is now way to trace that I ordered the package what can they do when they speak to me? The return address is false but the recieving address is real. I am baffled at what they think they can pin me on? Any suggestions or ideas would be wonderful. |

| I would recommend you do the following: Do not speak to the cops. Period. Don't try to talk your way out of it. If you are approached by the police, ask something to the effect of "am I suspected in some criminal matter?" Then state that you need to speak to your attorney first before speaking with them. If the police have sufficent cause to arrest you, they will - but do not discuss the matter at all with the police. Be nice to the police officer, but do not discuss the matter. Retain an attorney to deal with the police. At this stage an attorney can make the whole matter go away. He can discuss and say things to the police that you cannot. This could cost about $500 and amount to about one hour of his time - but it is worth it. This is the price you must pay for the shipment, so if you say you can't afford it - you're stupid. Sell your car, your bike, or your mother, but do not deal with this yourself. A competent criminal defense attorney is the only solution for you. Do not discuss this with anyone (too late now, because I bet you have discussed it with others). Anything you say to someone else may be related to the police. Do not contact the shipper and discuss it. Do not further any conversation about it. Sometimes these packages come to the attention of the police by virture of someone telling them - including the shipper, the roommate, the girlfriend, or some other "friend". I would not assume that the discovery was made in shipping - it could also be because of a tip. Time to pay an attorney. Now. Today. Immediately.

| Take Bart's advice. He knows what he's talking about. If things are as you say, the only connection between you and the package is your order with the supplier. If they've busted him and he kept records you might be out of luck, especially if you left any kind of paper trail for the payment.

| Has anyone known a deaf mute to go to jail and/or prison? I have heard many times that people talk their way in..I understand the need for an attorney but if he never claimed it couldn't that go in his favor? So a person could have enemies (maybe friends) that if they wanted could send a package you don't have a clue about..call the proper authorities & there would be a case? |

Certainly the individual who receives an anonymous MJ package, and the one who orders it, are faced with the same investigation when the Police knock on the door. And both would be best served to employ an attorney to deal with the situation.

Thank You again Bart for answering. If I received a package in the mail I didn't have a clue about..I do believe I would call the police..yeah,yeah I know some will say I am stupid..but that is what I would do..and if someone did do that to me of course I would call the Attorney first & have the money available to hire him/her right then to go in with me for questioning. Wow..I do learn something every day..and just when I thought I knew it all..your serious that people actually go to those extremes in divorce cases??..thanks again for the learning lesson.

| umm . . . please tell me you were asking this in a rhetorical manner; because we have about a thousand men here whose ex-wives' used MJ as "THE" reason for divorce after accepting his smoking from the beginning. Many divorce plaintiffs claim it as evidence of serious drug abuse. Cupcake will whisper in your ear that it is no problem and kinda sexy that you smoke MJ; but wifey screams at you to stop smoking MJ or she is getting a divorce and taking the kids. |

| Bart,Sorry to disappoint you but I was asking a genuine question because I have never had exposure to those kind of people..just the truth. Most of my friends that are divorced are still friends & if not friends they just worked it out & moved on. It might be the social circles we move in..I guess that is why I follow your postings sometimes..and you make me laugh In a good way, plus I am learning..nothng wrong with bettering yourself if one is ignorant on some parts of life.A forum like this one is a way for me to get answers to questions I can't ask at home..also much of what I have read comes from people with personal experience. Sorry I didn't know people did that to each other..but I leaned my new thing for the day..4 minutes to spare. Thanks again for your reply. |
