More info on this page but.. there u go. Sounds like you can be charged or court martialed. First time offense, probably get charged, denied promotions etc.

DOD (Military) Urinalysis (Drug Test) Program

Random Testing. By regulation, each military member must be tested at least once per year. Reserve members must be tested at least once every two years. This is done by means of "random testing." Basically, a commander can order that either all or a random-selected sample of his/her unit be tested, at any time. Results of random testing can be used in court-martials (Under Article 1128a of the Uniform Code of Military Justice), article 15s (nonjudicial punishment), and involuntary discharges. This includes using the results to determine service characterization (honorable, general, or other-than-honorable). Members do not have the right to refuse random testing. However, commanders cannot order specific individuals to take a "random" test. Those selected must be truly "random."

Considering the last thing the armed services can spare right now are bodies (live ones) I would just figure this would make sure he/she remained a grunt for the remainder of their military career.

It takes a lot of bodies to take over the world. Alive and dead ones.

Can't speak specifically about the Marines, but I was in the Navy, and they follow the same rules, outlined in the Uniform Code of Military Justice. I worked in an administrative role under the Captain of a small ship. I was involved in processing 3 cases of positive urine tests for sailors (2 MJ and 1 coke). These were random drug test given based on SSN (meaning if your SSN ended in a 9, for example, you'd be tested that day). This happened several times a year. All three sailors were ultimately kicked out of the Navy. All received OTH (Other Than Honorable) discharges, which is between Honorable and Dishonorable. This was in the early 90s. Not sure if much has changed since then, but I'd suspect not.
