| If you fail a pre-employment drug test, does the company keep that information to themselves or put it on your record so every company can see it when doing a background check? |

| What record? Do you think there's a central repository for information about who passes and who does not pass a drug screening?Even if you lose a job because you fail a drug test, your former employer is forbidden by law to pass that information on to anyone else.

| Thank you for the quick response. A friend of mine told me that when companies do background checks, pre-employment drug tests come up so future companies would know the results. I was extremely worried because I just found out that I have to take a hair test tomorrow in addition to the urine test. So pretty much, if the hair method does not work and I fail the test, all it does is keep me from getting this job? No future employer would ever know I failed if I understood you correctly. |
