| I am a law-abiding citizen. I've never been embroiled into any fight or argument. But someone is playing a malevolent prank on me recently. He post my home telephone on internet and told people it's a FREE delivery pizza store. So, you know what happened next: my home phone became hotline. I know who did this, but I have no evidence. Is there anything I can do to sue him? Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks. | |

| Call the board/site that had the comment posted. Request the IP of the individual for violating terms and conditions (assuming they have some), and for violating privacy. Once you have the IP, you can pretty much show it was him as: DSL/Cable lines are static IPs, so his assigned one would be linked with his account Dial up ISPs keep records of assigned IPs for at least a month That would be your proof, the rest is just legal work. Personally I wouldn't think it worth it though, you'll loose more money in the legal proceedings than you'll gain. If you're that angry, you'll have to do something else.. which I'm not going to suggest at all..

| He post my home telephone on internet and told people it's a FREE delivery pizza store. Here's an idea you could always consider: (other than caller ID) Whenever one of these bozos calls you up for a pizza, simply ask them this: "This makes me wonder what sort of person would read on the internet that a Free pizza delivery store existed, actually believe it simply because someone posted a phone number, and actually bother to call it." Of course, you can always flame it up to your tastes. [edit] Seriously, if it's a POST, put a post of your own up saying it's crap. If it's a WEB PAGE, report the bogus page to the hoster and demand that it be taken down. If the guy's running his own web server, see idea 1. |

| when people do this kind of thing I'd say its time to get very personal, but then it depends on what kind of person you are but that kind of thing just pisses me off, I would usually take matters in to my own hands. first make sure its him, if you don't already know where your number was posted then the next time someone calls u for pizza ask them where they got the number, if they don't want to tell you then tell them that you'll send them a pizza if you do cuz its part of the "deal" but don't actually give them anything. once you know where it was posted contact the site and ask them who posted it and tell them you want their ip and time it was posted ect... then send an email to the ip provider demanding to know who this person is. To figure out the ip just get the DNS and the providers name should be there. something like ***********.rogers.com the last word there should be the ip provider. then send an email to abuse@whoevertheprovidersis.com tell them your story and demand to know who they are because you intend to press charges on the person. once you get their name then its an eye for a eye and then some. Find out his mothers name(this will really get him if you wana be that personal) post his number someplace saying its an discount escort service and the first 500 people that call get a free "sample" session. for a better response print up a few flyers(be creative) and drop them off at some stripjoints in the area, I'm asuming he lives somewhere around where you live. this should really get em. have fun.

| Dont go demanding things from his ISP... I would ask the site admin send a email to isp (or forward a copy of a email you wrote) acompaning a copy of the log file as proof and link to the post on his bulletin board. ISP's usally wont do jack if you dont have proof, and they probably wont even give you his information even if you do have proof, at the most they will probably shut of his service. But yeah I would ask the next person who calls where they got your number, just ask politely theres not many reasons that I can think of for them not to give it too you.
