i recently was suspended from school for possesion of marijuana. i came into my school with a friend after a quick smoke session and we smelled like pot. they brought us into the office and asked us where we had been, we were asked seperately and unfortunately we had conflicting stories. we were then searched and in my locker they found about a gram of weed and a lighter. WAS this an invasion of my privacy, or is it standard legal procedure? i appreciate any imput, thanks

If you didn't have the weed would they still have suspended you? I always toked before and after school just to be safe. Sorry to hear that :| But I think since they own the locker, they can search it if they want. You're just renting it really. Someone will probably give you a better answer. heh

I think I just covered the same situation yesterday. Long story short, in a school they can pretty much search your locker any time they want to, and it might even be detailed in your student handbook.

If you smelled like pot, even a police officer would likely have probable cause to search you, so it definitely sounds like a bust.

Keep the weed away from school when possible, because you don't have a lot of rights while in school. Good luck with all that.

well this should be a lesson to everybody.... never EVER bring weed to school, you don't need that kind of troubble. they will do everything they can at school to give you the biggest shaft posible. just don't do it, it could mess up all of your plans for life after school.

Weed and school don't mix, and never have. When all possible, leave school to smoke, becuase getting busted skipping has a lot less severe penalty than getting busted smoking. And always leave the weed at home. I've forgotten once and brought it to school, but luckly wasn't busted. Good luck.

the simple solution to this is not smoking during school.


Actually learn something during class and reward yourself with a bowl when you get home.

I dont advocate getting BLAZED before school either but a few tokes to get you lifted into a threshold high is alright, I guess. But just enough to enlighten your senses

I've read that in Canada they can't search our lockers without reason.

Of course, no one asks ME what I determine to be reasonable.

I dont think that is true. Well, actually im pretyt positive that is not true. When i was in junior high we used to have random locker searches every once in a while. Like the cops would be there looking over your shoulder while you went through your locker. A couple times they would just bring the dogs into the school and the dogs would sniff out the lockers. In my high school we didnt have random locker searches but we could have if they wanted to. We had to give our locker combinations to the office 'just in case'. it was pretty annoying and of course i didnt give them the proper combination....**** that man.
Rule of thumb, if your going to smoke at school NEVER EVER EVER EVER store anything weed related in your locker, pipes included. Its just not a cool thing to do....

now this is paranoia-but i had a pack of cigs, and knowing how every principal watches me like a hawk, i decided to find a hiding place in tha school. I endedup taping it between a wall and this board(hard to explain).
If i ever get some weed at school i will hide that too.
I could be wrong, but since it is not on you, if they somehow find it it cant be traced back to ya. of course in busy schools there would be witnesses, but in a bathroom ya usually can find a vent or something.
